I am obsessed with the posts of people getting their factory orders.

But i have to admit many of the builds seem to be similar to Jeeps readily available on dealer lots.

I think i am going to have to factory order to get my options (sting gray, premium soft top, manual sport s). But i would much rather just pick one out on a lot.

For those who are doing a factory order, why are you going that route?
Painted hard top, painted fenders, no rubicon’s in NY, and the bigger 8.4 screen! Would rather wait a little longer and get what I want then jump the gun and kick myself!!

For me, it's the deal I worked which was for an ordered unit. That way it doesn't count against the dealer allotment. Getting exactly what I want is just bonus!

Who am I kidding, it's just for my name on the vehicle sticker!
I keep forgetting your name will be on the sticker that’s going to be so exciting!

Prob the same as everyone else. Mine MSRP'd for $55k+ and I'm out the door @ $48K. Can't do that buying off the lot. If all colors were available being able to pick color would be a big deal as well but honestly the basic colors available right now are kind of blah!! No Anvil, Gobi, Khaki etc... Sting-Gray is intriguing but not waiting on that. So pretty much the cost savings and had to make sure I had dual tops, tow package, Steel Bumpers and infotainment. I got the other options as well but could have done without. It would be tough this early on the get one equipped how we want off the lot. The dealers just kind of spit ball when they order for themselves. For example the two Rubi's that are available here locally they went with the upgraded Black wheels but passed on tow package. I could care less about the Black wheels, going AEV Pinters anyway but need the tow. Until the special models come out no way what the dealer has on lot will have what I'm after. Now if there was a Hard Rock or Recon version that would do but right now there's nothing like that. The 15th Annv. Rubi will prob have everything I want but who knows when we see that. So main thing is save a bunch of money and 2nd getting what I want. Colors, whatever.....

Anyone have a Idea when the Sting Gray will be available. Waiting patiently to put my order in. I think the Sting Gray will work well parked next to my Cement Gray TRD PRO 4Runner.

It will be real close to the Toy Cement color. That's a funny color. I love it and almost waited on the Sting-Gray. Depending on light, overcast, day/night the Toy Cement looks so different.

I want a Rubicon basically fully loaded but no leather which I have not been able to find any. I don't want black leather on a convertible!!!!
Man I wish the Tank color like your JKU was available. Well. Might not be yours but the one in your profile pic anyway. Love that color.

I want to customize my jl... but I would buy off the lot if they had a stripped down version. most dealers get the options that add to their bottom line. I don't want all the stuff they want to put on it

Mine was actually Commando Green.. only made in '13. Tank green came out in '14 I believe and not sure if it was a single year run?

It does look lighter than the Tank and pretty sweet. Hopefully the come out with something similar down the road.

I've been looking for two months for a JL completely loaded and so far the only one I've found anywhere in Jeep's inventory is the one I ordered. I wanted EVERY option including painted top, fenders and dual tops. There appear to be none anywhere except mine.

For me it would be like others have said -- customizing it exactly how you want, watching the order status change, etc. If it's true what others have said, it would also be so that no one else would have test driven it and that you are the true first driver of the JL (aside from the folks who move the vehicle from the factory to the delivery truck, etc.) After having said all that, I ended up getting off one the lot, only had less than 20 miles but was driven 90ish miles to get delivered to where I was picking it up. Maybe my next one :)

To be able to stumble upon something close to the way I want it and then get the price right is like winning the lottery. I wanted cloth and i bet finding cloth with a loaded out Rubi will be an exercise on its own. All that with the color I want just seemed like an unlikely event. This way I get exactly what I want. As much as I've been a wreck waiting for this order to come, it's only a few days away and it will be more rewarding having waiting for exactly what I wanted.

I don't have to settle on the options I want.

I just did a search for Sahara’s with select-trac and found none in 150 miles. Glad I ordered one.
