Why can't builds be changed for factory orders?

My factory order has made zero progress since I placed the order a couple of months ago. I wish I had added the cold weather/convenience package but the dealer says it's too late because Jeep does not allow any changes even if they have done nothing with the build.

Anyone successfully make changes after their custom order was submitted? Is there any way to do this?

Contact Jeep Cares. Voice your concerns. Tell them you want to give them more money by adding features. They can make change orders. They do all kinds of weird stuff.

I made an order last October when MY22 became available and was able to add the tow package through my dealer in January (still D status). Seems like your dealer is being somewhat disingenuous unless something has changed.

I imagine there are limitations at some point in the process but from personal experience, it’s possible to change an order. My dealer was able to change the color on my order twice (I couldn’t make up my mind).

It has to do with securing the required parts for your build. Even though your order hasn't made progress, production for '22s is winding down & will likely be finished in the next two months. At this stage of the game, it's no surprise your order can't be changed.

The dealer told me I can't make changes 48 hours after I placed the order, which was 2 months ago. Hoping @JeepCares can make it happen!

The reason you are at month 2 is securing parts specific to your build... and you want to change that list... while it is gathering... mid process... which you would likely expect to do again...

If you are serious, order at another dealer.

Didn't get a response from Jeep Cares here but I called them and as far as the person I spoke with knows, once the vehicle is assigned a VIN, nothing on it can be changed. But they also said to contact the dealer because they may be able to do something. But in my case the dealer is stating they cannot make any changes.

For those that were successful with making changes, any insight on what the process was for the dealer to do it? Maybe I can share that with my dealership.

Generally, the dealer is correct they can’t make the change. They have to contact their regional rep or leader, and that person can approve and enter the change. Tell the dealer you want the change made and to reach out to their regional rep or manager.

Yep, from what I recall, this is how my changes were handled. Dealer submitted the changes for approval and it took a few days to know whether they were approved or not.

When I went to make a change with Gupton an hour after my VIN was assigned they said they couldn’t make changes. Really wanted to add the SOT to the order but it’s whatever.
