When I bought mine, the dealer located exactly what I wanted and had it ready for delivery in a couple of days. But over the years, I've ordered and waited for several vehicles to bet exactly what I wanted.

I'm curious as to what made you order a JL rather than buy one off the lot? There are no wrong answers..... Everyone has a reason for doing soand they are all valid.
Because I'm cheap and wanted to save $$$ (7% below invoice). No trade, no financing.

Wanted a basic JL 2 door in Sting gray w/ 24S pkg and hardtop, nothing more :)
And 5% under invoice FTW!
I kept the soft top but upgraded the wheels! That sting grey is so sweet.

Why not? Did not start shopping seriously until August.
Couldn't find a 2018 with the combination of options I preferred.
During research found this forum very helpful with recommended dealer list, early links to 2019 options...
Ordered what I wanted after all the research, at 6% below invoice from recommended dealer.

Need to come to my dealer:facepalm:

2 rubicon
3 Sahara
rest of the lot sports some without hardtops too.
Black, Red, Gray, Ocean Blue. "We don't want any of those flashy colors".............
All I can find in my area is black. I asked the dealer if they were trying to do something similar to the Model T... "You can have the Model T in any color, as long as it's black."

I ordered because I wanted a manual. It was hard to locate in our area so they said ordering would be best.

2019 JL Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon on order
I searched dealer inventory for 2 months, then gave up and submitted my order 11/12. I much prefer to order to my exact spec, than make a compromise. Wanted a Manual Rubi Unlimited in Billet with all the packages.

SCIENCE!
From my perspective, I'm coming off a lease, so I knew exactly when I wanted my Jeep. The model year changeover worked perfectly for me on timing. I figured, if the price is the same, why would I get a Jeep somebody else optioned (and likely in a color I didn't want--I'm another Mojito guy) when I could get the exact rig I wanted. These are $50k vehicles now, after all.

Then I found out that prices weren't the same and it'd be cheaper to order. Not just to eliminate features I didn't want (I got a Rubi with a few specific options, and no desire for any others), but the actual deal price was lower. Total no brainer for me.

I ordered because I didn't want to pay for anything more than I wanted. I've owned 25 new cars and most I ordered but back when I ordered many of them you could order individual items not packages where you get 1 thing you want and 5 things you don't want.
Ordered a 2 dr because I have a JKU to use when carrying people or cargo.
Rubicon to get extra capability 4-wheeling. I got stuck once with my 1981 CJ5 but so far not in the JK but close.
LED group because much better light - should be standard on every car.
Tow and HD package because I need a hitch and wanted the Aux switches.
3.6 because the 2.0 is too complicated to be reliable. Plus have to use premium gas which offsets a little better mileage.
Auto because they are just as good or better in mileage and performance as a manual. Plus as I am about to move into my 70s I have a 50% better chance of driving in case my knees go bad.
Cloth because I can't see having leather when out in the dirty elements.
Steel bumpers because the steel bumpers I put on my JK have saved it from damage 2 times - when a woman was stopped behind me texting and floored it without looking but the light was still red. Scuffed the paint on the underside of my rear bumper and did $4,000 damage to her car. Grandson was driving my JK and I was in front of him in my Honda at a light. He looked at the light instead of the cars ahead of him and rear ended my Honda. Put a cut in the front license plate. Damaged the Honda rear bumper and gate. Jeep damage $0, Honda damage $3,000.
Standard hard top because it is quieter and warmer than a soft top but I think I will get a premium soft top this summer to add on.
Infotainment group for the bigger screen (old eyes) and functions. The 5" screen is a joke. I've replaced the stock radios in my JK and Honda with similar functions as the UConnect.
Black because I like everything to color match.

I searched local lots for about 4 months. I couldn't find a manual with a block heater. You wouldn't think that would be hard to find in Minnesota but it is. Most of them had the 'Cold Weather Group' but for some reason the block heater isn't included. ?

For me it was to keep overall Depreciation expense low. Ordering a 2019 at the beginning of the year is way better than buying a late model year 2018. Difference in the total cost of ownership over a 4-5 year period is $1500-$2000. On top of that, I ordered a Rubicon with very few options to save the upfront cost. I didn’t figure a dealer would spec what i wanted. Fewer options = lower depreciation and again, lower total cost to own.
