I agree Nate on many levels. You don't complain to Besttop and you don't put that fight here. FCA and the Dealership, mostly the former, is, if you're going to complain at all, the audience for that.

Who only knows what the arrangements are between FCA and Besttop that may be causing the reported delays. The arrangement may be one that not only that puts Besttop hands behind their back, but contractually precludes them from saying so.
Exactly. For all we know, FCA changed the design at the last minute.

You can bet Bestop is doing everything imaginable to keep Jeep happy. You don’t throw away a position you’ve held for this long.

You have successfully whined about whiners.

Stop whining, @ThirtyOne .

:crying:
Valid opinion. Here's another. Whining might be measured in the degree of its repetition and relative importance of the issue of the whinor.

31 made his point once, got off his soap box except to defend, and many people do complain a lot about the wait (maybe even me, although I try to hide it in humor) and sometimes point their fingers in the wrong direction and for the wrong reasons they think are the actual cause of the delay.

I do though sympathize and empathize with their frustration.

A bit back, the first thread with a complaint and criticism of a purchased JL got to me and I kinda went off. I stand behind it though and it’s good there is a place in the forum for that and I wish people would find that area and stay there. Far away from me. Same thing with delays. Let’s face it, a year from now all the bugs will be worked out with production, suppliers, the Jeep itself, and shipping. I have no doubt that it will be back to a standard... you custom order one, it will arrive in 4-6 weeks no matter where you are in the US. Us early adopters need to remember, we decided to order a first MY vehicle with a ton of totally new shit added in. There is always going to be issues, if it’s the vehicle or production with new things. Every manufacturer goes through this. Relax...please. And... I think I’ll have Jay create a new area in advance for the people to bitch when the eventual recalls come out...

In the spirit of the humor I cite, an anecdote. My teen came to me with a post today on some social media site of what may be considered the most complex drink order at Starbucks ever.

In "C" programming there is the obfuscation contest. https://www.ioccc.org/ The goal is to write the most complex program (that compiles, i.e. no syntax errors). People have used ways in the language to replace some keyboard characters for others to write programs that are actually digital images of things.....that compile.

In this spirit, using the most recent Building Codes Document, the builder at jeep.com, and the Mopar aftermarket products released at JL launch, I am trying to build (on paper only of course) the single most complex JL, so bold in its uniqueness, that it takes FCA the single longest to build, or they can't. You can't include products that conflict. But this is a no holds barred competition. If you know FCA is short on product "X," put it into your build. Money is no object. If FCA offered monster tires in a low-rider JL, it would be fair game to order. If FCA lets you order the Dual Top, the Power Top, the basic soft top and Mop Top haircut for its owner, put it in your build from hell.

It should look like a scientific genetics experiments between Zebras, humans, and paramecium that went horribly, horribly wrong, be stupid, AND have a bad personality.

Bonus points for each recall needed to it. Double bonus points for each recall that doesn't solve the problem is was recalled for.

Rigs achieving over 3000 miles without spontaneously combusting won't even be consider in the running.

Its leaking issues need give a topless rig in Seattle a run for its money.

when my son was about 9 he wanted a new gaming console. It was September. I told him if he was good he'd get it for Christmas. He started whining and wailing about it because Christmas was so far away. So i told him - look son. You are old enough for nice things but if you keep carrying on like a 6 year old you aren't getting anything. Act your age.

We are all excited about our new Jeeps and wish we could drive them home today. But y'all are grown. Act like it. berating @JeepCares and jeep chat and threatening lawsuits and calling FCA names. It's a downer. This is supposed to be a place where we have fun while we wait.
Well, I am amongst the waiting. Deposited and ordered JL 2-Dr on Dec 2! Originally told shipping date of March 4. Not so. However, I spoke with my dealer today and he related info from FCA this morning that there have so many requests (read complaints) that they are jumping into the JL's with both feet and taking there feet out of the water for JLU's temporarily. I can only hope. April 1 makes almost 4 full months. Would be a very bad April Fools Day joke if NOT. Hmmm. Glad my reliable '95 YJ is still running great.

Are you saying that resources are being devoted to the two doors at the expense of the 4 doors?

I’ve did my share of bitching but I wouldn’t consider it whining. If you lay out the facts as they truly are and how FCA has pretty much competely blundered this entire rollout; that’s not whining.

We all know and agree it’s not any easy task to redesign then produce probably the most popular and sincerely iconic vehicle in existence today. So do it with professionalism and transparent updates on a regular basis. Keeping your loyal customers informed goes a long way in building company integrity.

FCA didn’t have any problem with their marketing machine. They made sure all the magazines got to sample their latest product offering. How about the Super Bowl? One of the best commercials, IMO, of the elusive 2 door showing off its capabilities plowing through a stream.

A lot of the info on this forum, especially concerning the production timeline of the various models, was purely speculative. Supposedly this timeline came from a reputable source. What is a reputable source, a not so well informed FCA employee, a JeepCares associate kept in the dark, or a FCA rep that we all know was never given anywhere near any form of correct info?

All of this stealthy secretive behind the scenes activity that obviously we have no need to be informed about or to keep the competition in the dark. What competition? There is no other comparable vehicle in existence out there at this point in time. So why torment your loyal customers so they can fill the pages of a forum and whine away until the big daddy company gives us what they truly need to sell anyway?

I am not whining, I am simply pissed off. FCA is horrible with communication and they are treating their customers badly. Most of the people on this forum will be OK with a delay but they will like to know a firm committed delivery date. How about FCA sends an email with updated information every couple of days. Is it too much to ask? They are not doing this because they are incompetent. And, we are tolerating this incompetence because they have a unique product.

The randomness of the build process and lack of scheudle is not excuseable. If FCA was not ready for launch, they should have delayed it. Somebody on this forum was comparing JL launch with Apple iPhone. Let me tell you, there is no comparison. Apple store opens on time. If you wait in line, it is first come first serve. When you walk out if the store, you are happy with your purchase.

FCA needs to get schedule in control and communicate better with paying customers. I like Jeep so I will buy it even if I am mistreated by FCA. But I refuse to accept this as normal. Good product, bad launch, horrible customer service.

I didn’t have an issue with it at first till it started spilling over into unrelated threads and started ruining my enjoyment of reading the forums, but now I’m probably the biggest asshole to those who do whine and complain especially when in the wrong thread or ā€œpost whoresā€ new topics to beat an already dead horse.

Just last night in the Sting Gray thread someone posts their chat with Bestop customer service.... all because he’s pissed of the delays on the tops. Not only was he in the wrong thread, he was extremely condescending and disrespectful to someone who isn’t even directly involved with the issue. I’m sorry to those who witness how I talk to those who act that way, there is no excuse for the childish behavior and treating another human like shit and I make it a point to return the favor. I don’t care if it is on a forum or in person, don’t be a twat waffle.
No one likes twat waffles ;)

Could the FCA be more communicative? Sure. But they’re probably too busy trying to catch up on an unpredicted demand. If they had delayed the launch people still would’ve been pissed...if I were them I’d be temporarily charging more for options that they were running out of i.e. Dual Tops & Premium Soft Tops.

It is was it is, and I’m sure the workers are pissed that we’re pissed because they’re already working their butts off trying to maintain the highest quality standard they’re capable of. Life happens, we’re humans, and we’re all far from perfect.

Also there’s a reason why you haven’t really seen any car manufacturers successfully start up in the past few decades. It’s an insanely hard accomplishment that even Elio https://www.eliomotors.com/about-elio/ hasn’t even officially launched production. They initially had the launch date set for like 2015 or even earlier.

I remember that post..I agreed with you. No point in bitching about things you can’t control, right?
