I have both. I use my Gen 1 way more due to its overall size for regular wrenching.

Keep an eye out for Home Depot deals. They had one last week with the ratchet and m12 screw driver for $99

Just got the Gen-1 based on this thread. Smaller, lighter and plenty for how I will use it. I have got to stop looking at this forum. $$$$

Update: I canceled my order because I read the fine print of Milwaukee’s warranty. TL;DR - buy from an authorized reseller or you’re S.O.L. If it breaks. So the $50 I was saving may have cost me 3x that down the line...

I decided I’ll just wait for Home Depot’s Black Friday ad to see if I can catch an online sale. If not, I’ll just buy there, anyway, so I have somewhere to go if it breaks.

Well, I just got mine and I am going to keep it. They have a good reputation online. I was at my Home depot last week and they did not have one. Not even a demo and I didn't see another brand there. Weird.

I have both the Gen 1 and 2. They're both great but I usually reach for the gen 2 for most things as the extra torque is nice. And now I need the 2560, thanks for that.

Other than price, is there any reason NOT to get the extended reach? like, will it not fit in certain situations where the standard reach will- or am I over thinking it? 1/2" over 3/8" any reason to go one way or the other?

Personally I vote 3/8". Anything large enough to require a 1/2" drive is probably not going to be something you are going at with a hand held ratchet anyway.

Glad I was patient and waited for Black Friday! I got the 3/8" Gen1, charger and bag as planned, but also a Drill/Driver, Impact Driver, Hackzall, and light for an extra $50!

I have a large collection of 1/2” sockets and no 3/8 sockets- most of you guys are happy with the 3/8, but any reason why the 1/2 is a disadvantage?is it noticeably bigger or less useable?

3/8" sets are nice because of the large size spectrum (1/4"-1 in. plus). I prefer them over 1/2" sockets because of socket wall thickness in certain applications. 3/8" is much thinner and can fit in tighter spaces. But you don't want to go crazy with the amount of torque.
