Weird question, went to change my rear pads yesterday and the pads I got from Autozone were too small. I am thinking that the D-44 axle option gives me bigger pads? That wasn't an option at Autozone. Which pads do I need?

The pads that didn't fit were the DG2172, looking through the Autozone page it does say "Code BRY". They have another set listed for the rears DG2186 "Code BR2 or BR6" I will give those a shot.

Anyone having the LSD differential as an option would have to have the D44 brake pads ? Then there is the "Big Brake" option, different rotors/ calipers/ pads ?

Still a bit confused on the brake pads that I need.

'21 Sahara Altitude (not High Altitude) with LSD, so should have the beefy brakes option. I'm ~30K miles in, starting to get a squeal.

I'm extremely comfortable changing my own pads, have done it many times on other vehicles over the years. Just not confident as to which pads I need.

I also see lots of threads talking about replacing the full kit - rotors and pads. I've never needed (to my knowledge) to change rotors - is there a "trigger" that tells me if I need to do that or not?

I'm perfectly happy with my Jeep's stock stopping capabilities, just need to replace the pads is all.

No need to change the rotors. That's a job for when you are just itching for something to "upgrade" on your rig. There are differing opinions on the applicability of drilled rotors on an offroad rig as well.
