My order was approx thirty days after yours. I can only hope I have the same speed!
How did you know that your order was at "D1?"
As you did, I ordered everything I could except the smoker package.
I ordered it after about a month of haggling with the dealer. They originally wanted $10k over sticker, and since I've bought so much from them in the past (and I'm dealing with the owner), they finally agreed to $2500 over MSRP - which I was really unhappy about because I've NEVER paid over invoice for anything. But, I figured this was worth it, and I let him know that I'd be bugging them non-stop to get the order through. Somehow, he was able to get the order in (it was a non-allocated sold-order) and it moved at lightning speed. I have no idea what didn't stand in the way of the order being built quick. The only thing that comes to mind is the Sting Gray paint - maybe they had a bunch of cars getting that paint and they moved mine through fast. The dealer did tell me that if I ordered Tuscadero or the crazy yellow, all deals were off. But, Sarge Green and Sting Gray seem to be moving fast (along with Black).

It's not super reliable, either. The dealer is the best contact for info, but they're often busy chasing new customers. So, if you have a sold order and they don't have allocation for a ton of new cars, they might put you at the end of the list of priorities. It's definitely not the same as it was when I was buying Vipers from these guys - back then they'd treat me like I was a Lambo customer.

I agree with you completely; however, in my case, the dealer is:
  • Hard to find anyone who cares
  • Claims they don't know, and I should call the Jeep customer line
  • The Jeep hotline is run from grandma's bedroom and is unreliable
The entire process of purchasing a Jeep has been a nightmare; Marked-up prices with no additional service to back up the armed robbery.

I tend to agree with the level of service and crappy communication. Buying the car was also a pain. I've used the same dealer for years, buying very high-end in-demand cars from them at invoice (or below), and now they tell me that years of loyalty and big dollar purchases is out the window because they can't keep enough cars on their lot to keep their sales people fed. I just got shuttled off to a junior sales guy because the owner of the dealership is apparently too busy to help me spec out another Rubicon Unlimited with the diesel engine. No ability to negotiate there - he just said "you can't factory order that."

It's like hen's teeth to find a sales rep who knows as much as the buyer! I'd wager that ninety percent of sales representatives could not tell you the difference between a 3.73 and 4.56 ring and pinion. None of my sales representatives had a clue! No one at the dealership even knew that the 392 was full-time four-wheel drive.

Very true. I avoid the sales reps like the plague - they don't know squat unless they're Jeep people themselves. I had great luck with Northwest Jeep up in Portland - they have one of the highest allocations in the nation, and some very smart people. Unfortunately, the guy I worked with there for over 20 years retired. I'm currently working with the owner of a big Jeep dealership here in the Bay Area, but he's feeling the pain of COVID and the supply chain issues. He lost a bunch of good sales reps, and he's had to hire ones who don't know what they're doing. He's afraid to get down on them, and he's afraid to do fair deals, because his junior reps think it's totally OK to jack up the prices by $10k+ and he doesn't want a bunch of them to quit again. It's just a messed up marketplace right now, and hopefully things sort out eventually.

I have been self-employed all of my life, and I can tell you when you let the tail wag the dog, you are in trouble.

The "He's afraid to get down on them" is just an excuse to bump the prices. I'll bet he signs the sales associates' checks. He won't be a big Jeep dealer long if he does not run the business.

Believe me, I'm pissed beyond belief for paying about $10k more than what I budgeted for at invoice. I know they're rather screwed right now due to market conditions, but I'm personally not going to forget. I bought from these guys because they've been extremely supportive of the Viper community (I own three of them), but now that Viper is dead, that relationship may shift to someone who's more in line with what is right.

Exactly! Dealerships are being very myopic. They hurt the Jeep brand and stunt future growth. People have long memories when it comes to dealerships that take advantage of them. Future purchases can be made at distance dealerships and returned to your local dealer for warranty work. It's a nice stick in their eye!
Hopefully, someone at Jeep is taking note of dealerships who tarnish their brand with this practice.

Hey all! Quick question for anyone who's been checking for build sheets and window stickers separately on Jeep's online server "thing", not on cryptostickers.. (not sure what that Jeep search website is called)..

When you guys check for your build sheet online by entering your VIN at the end of the web address, and your build sheet is unavailable, what message do you get in response? I'm wondering if the message is different than it used to be when I ordered my last Jeep.

What I mean is..
When I search for the window sticker through that website, I get the same message that I remember from my last Jeep I ordered, AKA, "We are unable to retrieve a window sticker for this VIN at this time".

But when I search for the build sheet I get "NO Records Found for the VIN You Provided", which to me sounds a little ominous and kinda makes me question if there's something wrong with my order... which doesn't seem the same as before on my previous order. (I included a pic below for reference)

Is that the same, standard response that you guys get, or is mine different?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

-Rob

Rob, I would try Jeep Chat (see my post above) they had my details.

Good luck!
