I had mine replaced in April. Safelite OEM replacement, in my driveway, was right at $400. $740 sounds crazy high for OEM.

Not so if the windscreen has an Adaptive Cruise Control module plastered to it. My wife's vehicle is so encumbered. When I asked, Safelite (who repaired a small chip in my Jeep's glass this past February) gave me a quote of ~eight C-notes when I inquired about the replacement cost for her Honda. The tech mumbled something about resetting, or re-aiming(?) the module after the new glass was in place, too.

I was reminded once again of the value of the no-deductible glass repair & replacement endorsement in the Comprehensive portion of our auto insurance policy.

If someone wants to change to recalibrate adaptive cruise on a Wrangler then they assume you're a sucker or are themselves clueless.

On most vehicles the box is attached to the windshield. It isn't on ours.

Only paid $100 for an OEM Gorilla Glass replacement thru Statefarm.

Insurance has its perks …sometimes!

Sept 2 years ago, in TX for ann inspection—asked about the small crack if a problem. Was told ā€˜don’t even need a windshield’

My '21 has been flying with cracked glass for two years now; however the crack decided to grow from center bottom to almost top overnight and has now just about framed the driver's seat.

The greater internet says to replace a cracked windshield immediately, but the Jeep community seems to say wait until it falls out... when exactly does everyone think you should give in and replace a cracked windshield?

Apologies if this has been discussed or buried in one of the millions of windshield threads, but I am having trouble finding answers/opinions.

----------
EDIT: Thanks everyone, the rapid expansion had me concerned, and, based on that and your input, I'm replacing this week.

FYI: Best price in my area, installed and including tax, from the 3 non-dealership shops I called was:
$361.53 Aftermarket
$734.16 Jeep Standard OEM
$1,242.35 (!!!) Jeep Gorilla OEM

We, in Kentucky, simply call our insurance company. We’re required to have insurance, even though many driver don’t care, and windshield replacement is included in that insurance coverage. It’s dangerous for you, and other motorists, to drive with a cracked windshield. Happy trails.
