Is there an ideal wheel width for a 37? Currently have 37" BFG KO2s mounted on factory rubicon wheel. I think these are 7.5"... or are they 7"?

Discussion with someone has me curious if larger contact patch wouldn't improve on road manners. I don't really want aftermarket rims but looking at options.

Mopar simulated beadlock - 8" width - $337 and only gains 1/2" width. OE look and ability to use as beadlock later if I want

Raceline 950B Guage - 8.5" - only 180$ and pretty light wheel at 31#. Unsure how they hold up off-raod

Raceline 928B Monster (simulated beadlock) - 9" - Looks pretty similar to the actual beadlock but 10# less.

Is there an ideal width? What about if I go to a 39x13.5 in the future?

Current setup, I can air down to 26# before i get a full contact patch but still you can tell the tire is bulged.

Any chance you could shoot me a pic? You like them? I'm guessing your tire looks less "bulged" than mine. And you're even running them on a 13.5 tire.

I think the old rule of thumb was to not have your tires be more than 4 inches wider than your rim. A 13.5 might be pushing it on the stock 7.5 wheels.

I also love the look of my stock Rubi wheels (they are 7.5 wide) and would like wider rims for both better contact patch and offset (running 35" BFG KO2's) but really have not seen any aftermarket options that I like...However I did find these Mopar ones (8.5 wide) that look OEM right down to the Jeep center caps and Jeep logo on the wheel, PN 77072494AB. Might be a set in my future...

Quadratec has some OEM copies that are 17x8.5 and 5.2 backspace.

This might be the route I go to keep that OEM look and not too much offset. And man, super affordable. Makes me question quality and how they hold up to harsh winter conditions. Curious of any feedback from those that have them.

This is probably a dumb question but why are some tire sizes quoted in the standard form of say 285/70/R17 and then I from time to time see it expressed as 37x12.50R17?

I run the Quadratec wheel, and haven't had any issues with the finish holding up. They are pretty lightweight, allow the use of factory lug nuts, and are hubcentric. The only downside is they too easily pass for a stock wheel, so no points for looking cool.
