OP did not ask for opinions on 20" wheel size choice. Just opinions on an offset. Comprehend what you read.
And you complain about others having a bad morning...?

Get a life buddy.

Go with a -18 backspace wheel with an 9" width. This will keep most of the tire under the fender and still allow for the lift. What some people here call "poke" is where they want a significant portion of the tire ticking out from under the fender. That causes damage to your Jeep and to other vehicles.

Buy a high quality tire from a reputable manufacturer. Some of the off brand stuff are more geared for trail use and don't last long when used on the road (Milestar Patagonia). Load range E tires will ride rough, especially with short side sidewalls on a 20" tire. However, load range E will be nearly impossible to avoid with 20" 35s. Tires with very aggressive tread will also ride rougher, be more noisy and wear faster. Some are better than others, so ask here if you find a tire that you really like. AT tires are your best all around bet.

Jon, Is this wheel / tire combination going to be used as your daily driver (dirt road) set or for offroad use?

There is a difference. Just look what happens (above) when you wheel in the rocks with wheels and tires designed mostly for the street use.
This is my daily driver. Not going to do any serious off roading, did that back when I lived in Colorado with my past 2 Jeeps, left a lot paint in the Rocky Mountain wilderness areas and in Moab. I do want to be able to take it off road but nothing technical nor any rock crawling.

Trust me, I get what everyone is saying about 20" wheels and agree if I wanted to spend most of my time on the trail, I would get 17/18's and 35's. I my go this route but to me, small wheels with thick sidewalls always looked like Chris Farley wearing David Spade's jacket..."Fat guy in a little coat!" LOL

I don't get offended by anything said about 20" wheels on a jeep, to each their own right? At least I didn't buy a Bronco.

and OP did not ask for opinions on 20's. First post and he gets a beat down. Rough crowd this morning.
I knew as soon as I said I had a high altitude the floodgates would open. But if you knew what I paid for the Jeep in this market I would bet you all would be driving a high Altitude! :)

FCA is the US arm of Stellantis. The fact they they have not closed the FCA brand makes me think that they are not sure about keeping it in their portfolio. We shall see.

Actually, High Altitude is a great package. It just needs better wheels and tires, that’s all.

Fortunately, that’s an easy fix.

Thank you to everyone who replied, the calculators and advice is truly appreciated. I get the need for more sidewall when in the rocks and such but when looking at 35" tires on an 18" wheel versus 35's on a 20" wheel, the sidewall difference is an inch. What other benefits, if any, to an 18" wheel are there?

Normally cost is less for both the wheels and tires with a smaller wheel.

In general a smaller wheel will ride more comfortably, while a larger will help with cornering stability.

I also have a 2021 High Altitude and am considering new AT tires!! Like you this is my daily driver and will be used on the beach and fields of snow but no serious trails or rock crawling. I also was considering staying with the stock 20" gloss black rims. I was told when I purchased, that I could go up to 35’s without having to do any suspension work do to the stock height but don’t know if that is correct. Also don’t know if they even make 35’s that would fit the stock rims. Today is day 1 of doing my research!!!

I ended up getting a set of Black Rhino wheels and putting 35" K02's on them after installing a 3 1/2" Teraflex lift. with Falcon SP2. I stayed with the 20" inch wheel because I like the look and with 35's there is quite a bit more sidewall, not enough to really rock crawl, but this is not my intention. As far as using the stock rims with 35's, I don't think it will work because the stock rims have a big offset that pulls the wheel in. Might be able to get away with it if you use spacers, but I am not 100% sure.
