looking into the possibility of a different set of wheels and tires for my BRAND NEW '20 rubi & here ae where my frustrations lie:
1) not a fan of "poke": I"d rather keep the wheels INSIDE the flares
2) Rubi is ocean blue with body color hard top (fenders are still the basic black plastic), so I'd like to avoid all black: what I really really like is the Method double standard with the machined lip
3) there seems to be literally hundreds of different styles of wheels, but from what I"ve been seeing, there's nothing that is fairly close to factory offset/backspacing...most are all negative offset which is just going to push any tire I get further outside the fenders

what I need to find is some black wheels with a machined lip with an offset/backspacing that approximates the factory wheel...good luck with that garbage.....

Black Rhino has a few with a positive offset that run similar to factory. The Barstow are the only one I know off the top of my head

Jeff,

Not to criticize in any way, everyone has their own personal preferences. What makes you dislike a wider stance?

For me on a 2.5" lift, the wider stance lower's the center of gravity. Either on or off-road that is very appealing. I love everything about my 17x9 (-12mm offset) 4.5" backspace wheels. They're fantastic.

Just wondering what is it that you don't like about it. Again, not to say anything negative about your preference, everyone's Jeep is their business. I'm just curious?

honestly, I'm not sure exactly..I"d like to stick with the BFG KO2 & bump the tire size up to 35", with my preferred wheel, I'm looking at the tire being about 2.5" of poke...with 35's and no lift, isn't the 2.5 now going to cause rubbing with the flares?
maybe I"m just tired and not thinking...

anyone got images of a stock rubi with35's and a 0 offset?

Rubicon has those 1.5" wider axles, so the offsets in the +10 range would be about as much poke as your Sport setup.

Those AEVs w/ the +25 offset are designed to work w/ Rubicons, seem to be a good fit w/ those higher clearance Rubicon fenders.

I'm right there with you. I've been kicking around starting a "flush fitment/positive offset wheel thread".

So far, it's basically AEV's offerings (which have perfect fitment, imo), Method has like 3, and Black Rhino has 1 or 2. Oh and they'll all black or bronze or gray.

I'd love it if KMC would do some of their machined finish wheels in a ~+25mm offset.

For me, coming from TJs, the wide stance was necessary in order to get a taller and wider tire on there. JL Rubis already have something like 1.5" wider axles than other models, and they've got massive wheel wells. So that puts a JL at 14" wider than a TJ stock for stock from a stability standpoint.

To me, the it isn't a polished look to have a bunch of empty fender well on the inside and having half the tread past the flare on the outside.

Check out Custom Offsets | Largest Selection of Custom Truck Wheels ...www.customwheeloffset.com and https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/res...toYear=2019&autoModClar=Rubicon&package=false

Both of them let you search by offset. The TireRack also lets you search by weight. Method and AEV are two that have a +25 option. The AEV's are on the heavy side, so that ruled them out for me. There are others in the +12 and +18 range.

@jeepoch , I considered +25's too. Primary reason is that I hate salt spray all over the side of the Jeep. I grew up in MN, and back then salt disintegrated everything if you didn't wash it off right away. I ended up with a 0 offset. More choices, and a wider stance is safer off road for sure.

Jeff,
I, like you do not want my tires 3 inches outside of my fender wells. There seems to be a very limited selection of wheels with a positive offset. Black Rhino makes several wheels with a +30 but only 8 inches wide. At 8.5 and above you are back to a -18 offset. AEV as mentioned are +25 and I have found a couple others in the 0 to +6 range but even at +6 you are still much further out than the stock +44. For me I will keep looking until I find a good positive offset, I am sure I can find a tire shop that would put a 12.5 on a 8 inch wide wheel if I wanted to go that route

Keep in mind how the offset will affect the backup camera view. I'm on 33's with 0-offset Methods and this is my view on the Teraflex carrier. The further out you go, the more wheel you'll see.

The camera can be extended outwards with a DYI extension...there are write-ups showing how with some PVC pipe. I leave mine as-is since it doesn't block much of anything.
