Hey, I don't want to come across as saying you are wrong, because I do not disbelieve you nor do I have any experience or specific information to question you...Another great "benefit" of a FAD front axle. The axle breaks at the FAD during the crash test sending 1/2 of the axle (w/ the wheel) under the Jeep causing it to flip. Rather than getting rid of the FAD or adding extra support to prevent the axle from breaking at the FAD, they add this to try and prevent the tire from going under the Jeep.
BUT, when I watch and re-watch the crash test videos, it looks like the wheel assembly of the impacted side is coming off at the knuckles. Also based on seeing more than a couple videos/posts where this area appears to be a weak spot on our vehicles, I think this is a case of the knuckles just aren't strong enough to sustain an impact like the ones demonstrated in the testing. More so than the FAD causing a weak spot that shears the axle in two.
