Not even at 700 miles yet, my 2.0L JLU has it's first CEL showing up. P0301 which is a misfire. Called dealer and have it scheduled to go in week and a half to be looked at. The light has come and gone a few times here lately. Hoping they are able to get to the bottom of it quickly...

At least it’s cylinder specific. Should be quick to fix, unless it’s a major engine defect.

Be glad you got 700 miles. I had my first light in under 100 and another at ~1000... and only ~15 more between that and 40k.

Mine comes on every two months or so and stays on on for three start cycles before clearing.

Ugh. Unacceptable. Hope they just flat out solve it. Not thrilled with the idea of gremlins.

A check engine light just means that you received an authentic Jeep and not one of those fake imitation Jeeps. Best of luck, I know how frustrating it is. Unfortunately break-in pains happen the 1st year but after that you will love it forever...or until the next generation comes out that you have to have. :)

That would be an unacceptable response to me. You taking it back or gonna make a scene?

You can make a scene all you like. You’d be the jackass.

If an issue is not reproduceable in 50 miles, then there’s not much anyone can do.

You telling me they don't have a fix in the book for the code that was on the dash? My personal mechanic has a fix for whatever code pops up, why wouldn't the dealer? "Clearing the code" isn't an acceptable answer is all I'm saying.

You don’t seem to understand even the basics of diagnostic procedure of engine repair.

You seem to think that code = diagnosis.
Not even close.

P0301 indicates a misfire on cylinder 1. This could be due to a fuel, spark, air, or compression issue. Any of these could be due to any one of multiple different potential failure points.

All you can do with an intermittent cylinder specific misfire is a compression test, check spark plug condition for evidence of fuel/oil/coolant contamination, test drive it in an attempt to repeat the failure, and then return the vehicle to the customer.

That's a lot different than "tech cleared the code and we drove it 50 miles to see if it came back" though, which OP gives the impression that that is all that was done. If it is the case that they actually performed diagnostics, then it's a different story. My comments are under the assumption that OP's account of the situation is true. Which may or may not be the case. Either way, I think you and I are having a misunderstanding.

If they came back and said "here's everything we did and we can't get it to replicate", then that's a different story. OP just makes it sound like they're being lazy about it.
