FYI. My JLR was built on 12-21-18. When trying to install the Warn 101255 Winch Mount Kit, I discovered that Jeep has added 2 unused welded nuts to each of the front skid plate mounting brackets. One of the Nuts on each bracket will have to be removed before the WARN Winch Plate Brackets will align properly.

Wow, I wish I would have found this post before my install. I ran into the same issue. I couldn’t figure out why the brackets just weren’t working. I knew the nuts were in the way but thought I must be doing something wrong as Warn surely accounted for the nuts. Then, after inspecting YouTube videos for an answer, I found that my skid plate mounts had nuts that other’s didn’t. I’m going to let Warn know but their customer care was closed today of course.

Also, were you able to remount the skid plate without widening the rear mounting slots? I’ve got all but the rearmost driver side. I tried lossening and righting everything but can get that last bolt to line up.

Here’s a few shots showing why the bolts must be removed.

Had to widen the holes a little with a round file. Later when I removed the Skid Plate to install my front camera, the garage was a lot colder and I had to widen them a little more.

Sent the mount issue to Warn Customer Service and nothing but crickets.

I did the same as you, went back and looked at youtube again and noticed they did not have the nuts on their plates.

A lot of fun tightening those inside bumper bolts.

Hope I don't ever have to pull the winch to replace a headlight or something else.

Same, man. I was planning on replacing the grill but, uh, it can wait. I’m going to widen that last hole and call it done. Thanks for the reply!
