I just transitioned to a steel bumper setup on my JLUR so that I can add a winch and was able to get a used WARN winch mount, taken from a 392, part number 101255.

As I was installing the winch plate mount, I noticed that the plate the winch sits on is actually not at a right angle with the bracket that mounts to the main frame (where the bumper attaches). This seemed odd to me, and so I thought I would check here in the forum with others to see if others with this plate have the same slant. Unfortunately, after a lot of googling and watching videos, there is not a good enough picture of the WARN plate, either on their website or elsewhere, for me to see if this is normal.

I am guessing its on a slant so that the top of the winch is angled slightly away from the grill(?). This plate also has two pieces not shown that mount the back of the plate to the vehicle frame and those pieces seem to leave very little room for the automatic sway bar mechanism to operate, and that also made me want to check.

Bottom line, two questions where I would appreciate some help based on other's experience:
(1) is the slant normal? Please see pictures.
and
(2) has anyone had a winch mounting plate get in the way of normal operation of the automatic sway bar disconnect/connect mechanism?

Thanks!

Most likely doesn't matter. See what the square looks like over the three mount holes to the left.

The slant is so that the top of the winch is pulled away from the grill more.

If the electric sway bar control is in the way, it can be clocked into a different angle if need be.

The factory winch is narrower than the ‘aftermarket’ warn winch. This is in the drum section resulting in 90’ of line ILO the 100’ on a normal winch.

The non-factory winch mount is flat, the factory mount is angled to allow more clear between the winch and grille.

Before using that mount, I would check the bolt spacing for the winch you intend to run.

Thanks @Overkill! Do you happen to know where there is info that describes changing the sway bar control angle?

Thanks @embedded rock - the mounting holes are square...its the slanted mounting plate that threw me off. So far, the consensus from those that have checked in is that its normal for the factory plate....

I think it mentioned in the instructions for the Warn winch plate when I installed mine. That's been several years ago, so I can't remember exactly. I think it should be easy to figured out once you have the bumper off and can look at how the disconnect actuator is mounted.

Okay, thanks. Appreciate your checking in on this. I searched for advice and it seems "simple" and there are some videos, but I want to be careful to not break any rules. about posting content here. The bottom line of all the advice is that by loosening the sway bar mounting bolts, you can rotate the entire assembly upward, moving the electronic disconnect motor and plug further away from the winch plate,
