I started with jscan. set my tire size, gears and had to adjust something (cant remember) on the rear brake light LEDs to get the oracle flush mount to work.

I want to move over to a tazer for the live features. is there any issue with that now that ive made changes using jscan?

also - can I go back and forth? not sure theres a reason to, but just curious.

So you had no Tazer JL in the picture and did changes with JSCAN.... again, thus far no Tazer JL in the picture?

IF that is the case, no Tazer JL in the picture yet, sure just marry your new Tazer JL Mini and do your settings. Do not redo your gearing, tire size and Oracle flush mount deed again with the Tazer JL Mini.

IF, if you decide to do other changes with JSCAN in the future, do unmarry the Tazer JL Mini, do your additional changes with JSCAN and then remarry the Tazer JL and then redo/check your Tazer JL Mini settings.

When you use JSCAN in the future, you can use the Tazer JL Mini as your bypass module. You would just unmarry the Tazer JL Mini, use your OBDll Scan tool to do changes with JSCAN and then remarry the Tazer JL Mini.

This hybrid approach of using both JSCAN and Tazer JL Mini is something I have advocated for a long time... BIG PLUS with this approach is when you go to the dealer for Service.... and you unmarry your Tazer JL (Doing the unmarry, removal of Tazer JL and reconnect of the 2 security gateway cables is a must) your JL will not lose it's programmed gearing or tire size, Oracle fix, you did with JSCAN.

Just use your head and ask ? if you are unclear with the dance. DO, read over carefully the Tazer JL Mini's instructions and follow them closely. Do, keep track on a piece of paper that you carry in the JL, all the programming changes you made and with which programmer you made the changes with..

Any ? ask away..

^^^ this ^^^

You can make "permanent" changes with JSCAN and only use the Tazer for things that JSCAN does not support knowing that if you unmarry the Tazer the JSCAN changes you made remain.

got it. so the important part is to make sure I unmarry the tazer before making permanent changes in jscan and i should only do permanent changes in jscan and not tazer. two questions

1.) @Rhinebeck01 when you say in the future, I can use the tazer as the bypass module…what do you mean exactly? for jscan I have the Chrysler security cable and the veepak OBDcheck VLE+ module. does the tazer replace the veepak?

2.) before I marry my new tazer, is there any other permanent settings in jscan you recommend?

When you work with JSCAN, the old school way was to use Chrysler cables.. the more current way, is to use a dedicated bypass security gateway bypass module.

With that said, for you..... the Tazer JL has a built in bypass module...

SO, you use that bypass module instead of your Chrysler cables.

With the Tazer JL unmarried, just plug in your Veepak BT scan tool into the ODBDll port and open the JSCAN app and do your programming. When done with JSCAN, remove the BT tool from the OBDll port and then remarry the Tazer JL.

For you, you have done enough with JSCAN ! Stop there and do the rest with the Tazer JL Mini.
You have done gear changes, tire size and Oracle fix with JSCAN (Smart move!).... do stop there in regard to JSCAN programming.

thanks for this. clears it up for me …

but…1 more question. I shouldve mentioned this earlier, but I also have the zauto front camera to install as well.

I noticed in the settings menu (engine off) that there is an option for “CargoCam” which I believe ill have to turn on. Im thinking this should be done with jscan that way it’s permanent. However, in jscan there is a ton of options under camera. is there one in there specifically I should select? or should this be done entirely through the tazer?

Why not just enable that camera with the Tazer JL.

I have not dealt with / used JSCAN in regard to enabling front camera. I have read / been told also, that JSCAN can do. I think... again think you enable Cargo Cam in JSCAN to enable the frt. cam.

Hopefully, another JSCAN user will chime in here and answer your cam related ?.

By the way, I myself, never use the word permanent in posts regarding programming changes. Using the word permanent to me confuses things a bit. Reality is programming changes you do or dealer does can be changed....

Remember... for the Tazer JL/JSCAN hybrid approach..... in regard to hardware you would use/you would need to have ->you do not need a Chrysler 12+8 Programming Cable or a dedicated security gateway bypass module (ECRI SGW bypass, etc.)

For hardware, you would need a Tazer JL Mini, A Bluetooth Scan Tool that is highly rated by JSCAN for use with a JL/JT .... and a JSCAN registration in regard to your vehicle's Vin#.

With this hardware.... the Tazer JL does security gateway bypass duties when you use JSCAN and or the Tazer JL Mini itself.

I mention this so you do not go out and buy a Chrysler 12+8 Programming Cable or a dedicated security gateway bypass module.

Thanks I appreciate the info, any Bluetooth scan tool you can recommend?

so looking through the jscan menu, there are two that are set to “deactivated”. the off-road cam and surround view camera. all others are set to active. do you think there is any harm in trying to set the off road cam to active in jscan and then proceed with the zauto cam install?

Fool with the settings. See if you can activate the frt. camera. If you can and want to do with JSCAN, do and then remarry / marry theTazer JL. No harm trying..

Good info to know! Thank you. I just rec'd the Tazer JL Mini yesterday, and I have all the items necessary for the JSCAN ordered. The extension cable for the security gateway is going to save me a lot of mangled hands.
