Do you have strong feelings for/against solid red leather seats? If you don't like/want red interior, cross 2024 off your list now and concentrate on 21-23 models. That's what I did and found a nice 2022 (Non-XR).

I had a 2018 JLR w/ 3.6 for the majority of my daily driving until trading for the 392, and have LOVED having the power of the 392 over the somewhat anemic (IMO) 3.6 for daily driving. Yes, there is the mileage hit and buying premium gas, but if that doesn't put you in a $$$ crunch, it is solidly worth it IMO.
I hate red seats in any vehicle, and it kills me that they don't offer something other than the 'boy racer" ridiculous red interior on the 392.

I think Bartact is going to see a increase in sales of their seat covers. I remember when trying to get red seat belts were impossible to get but the thing to do

Here are the numbers on why I chose to go the route that I did
2021 392 msrp $76,710 tow package, front camera, headliner, $295 firecracker red
Price of 2021 non XR 392 $74,500

Trade in value of non XR 392 during shortage due to Covid $78,500

2021 392 XR msrp $82,345

Price of 2021 XR 392 $81,495 included front winch guard, mats, tow package headliner,Gorilla glass, front camera, $295 Firecracker red

So for the price of basically regearing and a little more I ended up with the exact Jeep that I wanted and would have built but without a factory warranty

I recently traded my 2022 High Tide (had every option) for a 2022 392 XR.
Prices are in the low to mid $70's here for 2022-2023 XRs (Plenty of inventory available with low mileage in the South East).

I could not be happier. I purchased mine with new 37" Nittos.

Yes, there is a financial hit with gas, but I don't mind and am smiling every time I drive. This is my DD. I run highway, back roads, traffic and city. Zero complaints.

I test drove a 2024. Drove nicely, liked the new seats and the larger center screen. Not a fan of the red leather, though easily addressed aftermarket for another $2-3k.
The numbers and differences did not add up for me. The idea of buying new for low to mid $90's, adding 37's and changing the leather was the deal breaker. Taking the $30k I saved to add a lift and other goodies. If $ is not the issue for you, get the 24 and make it your own. IMHO, a superb vehicle.

Good luck!

The early 2021 models had an aluminum oil pan that sagged pretty low. The design problem was noted and changed mid 2021 from what I remember. If you have an aluminum pan I don’t think you can swap it for the steel pan so if you are thinking 2021 I would make sure to inspect for a steel oil pan.
also starting 2023 they put a safety bracket in the front passenger wheel well. It hangs down pretty low. There are plenty of videos that show how to remove this.
the only reason I would consider trading in my 2022 for a 2024 is that the newer seats are supposedly more comfortable. My seats are extremely firm and not comfortable after an hour or so behind the wheel. However I don’t like the red leather seats. So pick your poison there ?

That’s a good point on the oil pans, but there were some deliveries in 2022 (relatively few, I think) that had the low slung aluminum. Fwiw, many of the oil pan skids (Artec for example) don’t differentiate between the 2, though some manufacturers do. It’s somewhat of a minor difference if you plan skid plates, which is something u should do if you’re on rocks. Given the choice, I would have preferred the steel pan.

I believe you’re right about inability to swap between pans. I know there are threads where this attempted, and discovered ‘cannot do’.

Not to quibble, but I believe the safety brackets arrived in 2022 not 2023 for wranglers in general…maybe they didn’t make it to 392s until 2023(?).

I have a 2022 392 and it doesn’t have the bracket. That was added to the 2023 version.

Had a 2021 JLUR 6-speed on 37s which I just traded in for a 2024 392.

I'm 6'5 292lbs and can 100% confirm the 2024 seats are significantly more comfortable then my 2021. I drove from Koons VA to my home in north NJ and came out with no aches.

The other crazy improvement on the 2024 is how much quieter it is on the highway. I still can't get over it. Almost like a normal car now.

I always had black interiors but I actually really like the red seats in person. Pictures just don't translate.

Glad you like your 2024. I can’t figure why the prior to 2024 392 seats are so uncomfortable. I mean maybe after 10 years the foam will soften a little. Who did they design those seats for? The forward protruding headrests are also a problem. I can’t really sell my 2022 for a loss of 20k then buy a new one. It would be much cheaper to have custom seats built.
besides I have finally finished my build just how I wanted.

I had a 2022 and it did have the bracket. They added the bracket late in the 2022 model run.

It's weird
I have a scrawny azz and have a heck of a time finding a seat that is comfortable to me after about the 2 hour mark. So far only the E63s seats were truly comfortable for me. I assumed the 392 seats would suck but they don't bother me at all.

Strangely enough, my wife's 2024 Rubicon seats start getting uncomfortable to me quickly.

Maybe its just my azz. I have to use a very minimalist bike seat with hardly any padding or my butt kills me.

The foam padding construct and material is definitely different. Softer more willing to adjust to your shape. the 2021 I had was rock hard and I basically sat on top of it.

I literally went through your justification process having sunk a lot of money into my 2021.

But I made the financially ridiculous decision and bought the 2024 anyway. After driving it home zero regrets. But I'm also going from the 3.6 to the 392.

The 2021:

You can sit on a brick and be happy in a 392.
