used 392

i am looking to purchase a used 392 with xtreme added on later model. from what i see its not offered on 21 or 22. i am asking for the differences in years 21,22,23 and 24.
I'm going to trade my 2018 rubicon and my 2018 grand Cherokee in for a 392.
second part is what are the cons of using for a daily driver.
to add to this i do want 37 inch tires and all i do is pretty much highway and city driving

I’ve had each year of 392.
Naturally, I’d recommend the 24 as you get more tech/safety and standard features.

If ‘24 isn’t realistic, go for a 22 or 23 w XR package (4:56s, reinforced tailgate, 35s, etc)

Downside for DDing… I guess I’d say fuel consumption.. averaging ~11 mpg

Do you have strong feelings for/against solid red leather seats? If you don't like/want red interior, cross 2024 off your list now and concentrate on 21-23 models. That's what I did and found a nice 2022 (Non-XR).

I had a 2018 JLR w/ 3.6 for the majority of my daily driving until trading for the 392, and have LOVED having the power of the 392 over the somewhat anemic (IMO) 3.6 for daily driving. Yes, there is the mileage hit and buying premium gas, but if that doesn't put you in a $$$ crunch, it is solidly worth it IMO.

I went 2023 for Sting-gray color and black seats. The 2024 upgrades are nice and we have a 24 Rubicon X but my 23 doesn't leave me feeling like I am missing anything. I also went with a very low mileage CPO in a non-XR package knowing that I was going to build it.

It is a perfect daily driver in my opinion.

Just going to say I miss my Grand Cherokee Trailhawk for daily driver use. The 392 is a rare breed in that it can sort-of do Grand Cherokee duties when needed but is the ultimate Wrangler for off-road things too. Doing highway miles in the 392 with 35"s isn't a problem but it's tiresome vs a "normal" SUV. Something to think about if you're collapsing two Jeeps into one.

To me, the 392 keeps road trips exciting. I hate road trips in general but actually enjoy them in my 392. Mine rides a lit better with my lift and 37s than it did stock. Feels fine around 100 mph too.

never gone that fast in my Rubicon but grand Cherokee been 117.
glad to hear about the 37's that's what i want. do you have stock gears or xr gears

Difference- rare late 21 release no Additional California Emissions Equipment , exit honks, metal sticking down from the frame — 22 Additional California Emissions Equipment for CARB states, exit honks for all— 23 all CARB compliant, metal sticking down and I believe another forgotten annoyance added somewhere 22-3 — 24 Floating Axle , the other changes like them or not. IMO they can keep the rest of the change, but the rear side air bags liked if I had kids, otherwise the fat air bags another annoyance to bang head on. Oh yeah-$73.5K (add 4K for NA XR) Jeep now $94K with options and shipping higher, ($2K SOT now $4K etc.)

The only thing is I wish it had a bigger fuel tank, I did not buy it for the fuel mileage but compared to my Raptor with a 36 gallon tank the Jeep just requires more frequent fuel stops. There have been a few 2021 392 XR`s for sale on this forum along with other areas

Upcoming XR , but details unknown Aug of 21 when mine was in build (ordered Apr), being fearful of of another 4+ month wait possibly rolling it into a 22 and the rumored Additional California Emissions Equipment , and a price increase I didn’t reorder, had I known the XR’s disable MDS in OR+ I would have paid the increase and gambled. The dealer has been unable to reprogram my pre XR for the Factory Option XR pkg . ?
