yeah but this is from the crowd that needs 37’s to do what you can do in a toyota on 32’s or 33’s; or what can really be done stock with a good line.

id have to say the worst part of owning a jeep is often times other jeep owners. I cant get over how incredibly douchy mall crawler bro’s have gotten over the years.
no shit, in the 80s if you had 31s you had huge tires.

i know Right??? you can do 95%+ of north America on 31-33’s. And a solid 3-4% of the 5% you cant do is found on InstaGram.

dont get me wrong. The JL/JLU is a fantastic and comfortable modern jeep. More capable than it’s predecessors by a mile, and as comfortable as a LR4. but damn. Some people here seem to think it’d the only truck on the market that can go off road well which is crazy.

the J eep T ruck is as true to the original “GP“ spirit as any other truck or Jeep out there. yes there are smaller vehicles that climb rock trails better. yes there are bigger trucks that tow and haul more. But there isnt a vehicle out there that does the mix of all as well as the JT. Its as ”GP” for middle America as it gets. Tow that average camper/toy trailer/small boat? Sure. Run to the dump or hardware store? yep. Crush that weekend 4x4 trail for some remote camping? Absolutely.

it is the most trail capable and comfortable pick up on the market there is; and the only thing like the TLC76 pick up or Defender pick up that America gets.

And I like the hell out of it. ? ??

I don’t know. Our JLUR scraped more often than I thought it would on the stock tires when we took it out. In all fairness I’ve done all my hard wheeling in the past in a 2 door so maybe my expectations or line choices need to be adjusted.

.. I am in the process of buying a house and i have a 2 door atm
Charles--how does the house factor in..? Are you saying that with this financial change of home ownership, the last thing you need is a crummy JT build....

or maybe your saying that the house opens off road travel to you that much more, hence the desire for a JT.....

I'm not judging, I'm trying to understand your situation.....

I know its in the eye of the beholder but the gladiators are just so ridiculous looking. I'd def call that a downgrade.

I recently considered trading in my JLU for a JT. However my #1 thing that our Jeep’s give us is opening them up. I traded in my JK for the Sky One convenience as I’m getting older. This would mean I’d be back to manually removing the roof.
As others have said, if need be I’ll just buy a trailer.

I bought a JTR is July last year. Traded it in on a 2-Door JLR in December. I had never owned a pickup truck before, and I never will again. I was amazed how useless they are for actually hauling stuff (unless it’s bails of hay or logs or crap like that).
In a pickup, everything is either passengers or cargo, there’s no in between. I probably would have been better off if I’d have gotten a tonneau or cap on it, but after 6 months of trying I realized that my wife’s Pacifica does a better job of “hauling stuff” than the Gladiator ever did. I have a scorecard if you want to see the comparison.
So for me, the Gladiator lost the battle with the Pacifica for hauling stuff, so it was relegated to just a fun vehicle we’d drive when we wanted the top down or to hit the trails, and a JL does both of those things better.

Damn. Yeah with the amount and type of offroading i do it would most likely either get high centered or it would be way too long for the tight trails i go in. As far as payload it would only be dry wall and some lumber. plus what ever furniture or applian

Mainly with home improvement and upkeep. I cannot fit any drywall or lumber or flooring in my 2 door. I feel like a pickup would be useful in that aspect. I also had a Gladiator as a loaner when my jeep was in the shop for its clutch recall and i actually liked it. This is what im torn about.

That new Frontier is actually an option now too though.....

If you are hauling drywall, furniture, lumber, etc. rarely the better option would be to rent a truck from the home improvement store for $20. Thinks of how many times you could rent before it would even come to a single payment.

If your off roading is truly so extreme that only a 2door wrangler will do; anything else will let you down.

just cruise your rural country side until you see that dude selling his old ass pick up truck, buy it, use it to get your projects done, and flip it.

Lemme tell you about this guy!! I have NEVER seen anyone so in love with his Sky One-Touch Power Roof! It is like he takes EVERY opportunity to toot this feature that he paid when he got his Jeep. Did I told you that he HAVE a bikini Jeep??? You can throw any shades (haha) at his Jeep but he will still tell you that he have Sky One-Touch Power Roof and you are just meh! I think he would trade for ANYTHING if that anything have Sky-One Touch Power Roof!!

I am telling you - stay far far away from this guy!!

I have to second that!!! Even though we are all supposed to be you know - coexist together - one big Jeep family yadda yadda yadda - but Jeep Gladiator is just.... umm whats the word... its like you know how the 2 Dr people make fun of the 4 doors but that is still acceptable as it is just extra two doors you know and you can take your family for a ride BUT Jeep Gladiator???

And I do think that the people that drives Gladiator - well a lot of them - they are what was the word - different kind of people? Err not the normal kind of Jeep people? Umm not as nice as the regular Jeepies as most of them never waves back (I gave up waving at Gladiators).
