Those are not equivalent. Is the only option you want the automatic transmission?

I’ve owned 2 JK Rubis. The JL is IMHO is simply a better rig on many different levels. On a budget get a sport and upgrade.. I love my JLUR but could see some up and coming badass sports and if you don’t plan on serious off-roading a JL sport will work just fine.

[Well, as an FYI, the base Sport S MSRP vs base Rubi MSRP is $6,800 difference and when you add afew things to get the Sport as close to the base Rubi as possible it's a $3,800 difference.

This still ends up with the sport not having the hood, highline fenders, lockers, lower gears, lower range xfer case, wide axles, premium cloth, etc...

The example he sent was a base Sport. And there is a $9k difference there. But if you go 5% below invoice it does close the gap somewhat.

As far as I know.

Bigger brakes would be nice but not a deal killer.

Basically need what a base offers but have the look of the Rubi exterior

So, Yeah.

If you really don't care about options, there will be a difference of $8,151 between the Sport and the Rubicon.

For that difference, you get:

- Better wheels
- Better tires
- Better suspension
- high fenders
- nicer cloth interior
- 7" entertainment versus 5"
- Better brakes
- Better axles
- different transfer case
- higher gearing
- power lock
- power windows
- nicer steering wheel
- auto dim light
- heated side mirrors
- more power ports
- fuel door cap
- fancier hood
- nicer bumper
- rock rails
- auto lockers
- disconnecting sway bar
- grill inserts
- stickers
- probably some other stuff I forgot

That is definitely a good value. The question is whether it is worth it to you.

Been debating JKU Recon or JL Rubi. But the latter is over budget.

I just sold an 04 Rubi, and TBH have no need for another rubi, but I like the look it offers as in tire size, hood, height, and bumpers.

I'm seeing Sport vs Rubi JLs at about $10k difference.

I can get Rubi wheels/tires for $900
Hood and painted for maybe $1k
Bumpers for $1200-1500
And say lift it for another $800

That's adds up to about $4200

Does that seem close? Anything else I'm missing?

Leather isn't needed, nor is 8" nav screen
I went through the same thing and just got a sport s this time around, I don’t need all the upgrades. Seeing as my last JKU like my JL is a daily driver I didn’t do any crazy off-roading because I had to drive it home from the trail and to work the next day.I can count the number of times on one hand I used my lockers.

I would be willing to bet that most that buy a Rubicon will never get offroad far enough to use any more than the features of a sport if they take them offroad at all. If you want all the upgrades on the JL you have to step up to the Sahara or Rubicon.

When I built mine with the same options including cloth seats the Rubicon was 6-7k more before taxes if I remember correctly, this was with LSD and I couldn’t see paying that much for heavier components and features that I never got close to needing the capability of.

If your not going to go off road, buy a Sahara with creature comforts. I wanted a Rubi because of the 4:1, axles, highlife fenders but I bought a decked out on. I have a TJ on 37’s that I have spent a ton of $$$ in axles, cages, lockers and 4:1 transfer case when I could have bought a Rubi for less
