Unresolved Star Case, Now What?

I don't know what your career is, but that's your opinion and you are welcome to pursue service issues with your Jeep in the manner that you wish.

As stated previously...after decades of driving all manner of Jeeps, I've never experienced an issue like this, and my service advisor even agreed that Stellantis should take some responsibility, since it's an obvious manufacturing defect and is still under warranty.

This is your 3rd thread about this lean, and I didn't see any pictures posted. I think all my cars have leaned on the driver side, it's just a fact of life. If it's such an eyesore, give us some pics.

I agree, OP, that you deserve a Jeep that is level and straight. But this seems to be a fairly isolated issue, which suggests a one-off problem. It also sounds like more of a cosmetic issue. I think if the dealer would be willing to add in a 1/2 spacer to level it out, I'd go with that and call it a win.

i always thought it was a jeep thing to have them learn a little to the right. lol. my 23 does, and my 19 did. as others have said more important things to worry about for now.

I apologize if I'm missing some previously provided details, but you're saying you took delivery of the new Jeep with this lean as it came straight from the factory, and this is a stock suspension? So it's always leaned? or did the lean start sometime after delivery or modification?

Unfortunately, I didn't notice the lean until after I took delivery. It is a stock suspension with no mods.

A picture is worth a 1,000 words. Maybe 2k once adjusted for inflation. OP - what are you expecting from the forum? Why are you not able to post a picture and instead chose to effectively insult others? Am I missing something?

Agree about photos, but as stated previously, I cannot provide one right now because the Jeep is still at the dealership. My initial post describes what I'm asking of the forum, so no need to re-post here. Also, I'm pretty sure I didn't "effectively insult" anyone who didn't throw a barb first, and you are welcome to review previous posts to confirm this as well.

No worries...totally understand and I'd be happy to provide a photo if the Jeep was in my possession. It is still at the dealership and I hope to get it back sometime this week, along with whatever settlement they're going to offer. Will keep you posted.

Good points here so exactly where are you measuring? Is the surface you are on dead level? If you are measuring bumper or fenders, those can easily be shifted that much.

try measuring with you or someone in drivers seat. Alignment specialists will sometime align a vehicle to account for the crown in the road. I hate that, but they do it so the little old lady won’t complain that the car drifts off the road as they drive down the severely crowned road.

I’m wondering if the factory build is lowe right, so when you sit in it, it’s level.

I was measuring the distance from various locations on the front passenger corner of the body to my garage floor, which is dead level. Dealership's measurements confirmed this as well. The factory suspension on every other JL I've seen is level, so this is clearly not right, and why Stellantis has been investigating this in detail for the last month.

I've been hearing about "Jeep things" since I learned to drive in a Willys MB many decades ago. While many of these problems can be overlooked, the whole "Jeep thing" mantra is just a copout for poor workmanship and QA, which is why my service advisor recommended that I initiate a star case. If the right lean is so prolific, then it is clearly a design flaw that should be corrected. Given the prices we pay and the poor customer service we typically receive, why should we have to live with it or invest more time/money/effort to install a spacer? I don't know of any other vehicle that rolls off the line with such an issue, and we Jeep owners deserve better IMHO.

While this is obviously a minor problem, it apparently exists in many JLs, based on several responses here, and is therefore a design flaw that should be corrected. I don't know of any other vehicles that roll off the assembly line like this, and we Jeep owners deserve better.

I can't provide photos at the moment because the Jeep is still at the dealership. As stated previously, I've driven almost every Jeep model produced since the 1940's and never experienced this issue. Especially with a modern vehicle, a defective factory suspension should not be a fact of life, and we shouldn't be duped into accepting it as yet another "Jeep thing." Owners of other vehicles don't accept crappy workmanship, so why should we?

At first, I thought this was an isolated issue too and still have yet to see it on another JL, However...as you've probably seen in this thread, it is apparently quite common, which indicates a design flaw. Agree 100% that it is cosmetic, but that shouldn't allow Stellantis to avoid taking responsibility for it either. After all, paint bubbles are cosmetic too, but there sure are a lot of owners making Stellantis rectify that situation. This should be no different. I also agree that a 1/2-inch spacer would be a (sort of) acceptable solution, but no dealership will install one, as it isn't an OEM suspension component.

Agree 100% that this issue is minor and I'm pretty sure I never characterized it as "the end of the world." Again...it was just a simple question posed to my service advisor, who thought it was significant enough to elevate as a star case. That's it, plain and simple.
