Uconnect system issues 2024 model

Purchased a 2024 Wrangler 7 weeks ago with a faulty system. Starting within the first 24 hours of purchase (2/10/24 - most recent on 3/23/24):

- COMPLETE loss of audio (radio/siriusXM/carplay). Reset resolved the issue.
- Screen freezing/unresponsive. Has occurred multiple times and often takes many resets to resolve and come back online.
- Carplay unresponsive (song appears on screen but won't playback - whether asking Siri or pushing button on screen). Can still make a phone call and view other apps. Has happened multiple times.
- Siri crashes - pushing the command button does nothing.
- Songs skip during playback (brief, 1 second blackouts). Sometimes 1-2 times per song, sometimes days pass without issue.
- Screen glitching and causing the graphic on the display to pixelate (Mar 24- photo enclosed). Reset resulted first in a black screen but soon system started up as if nothing happened.

Anyone else experiencing this? The dealership refuses to investigate further without first hand proof which is hard with these intermittent problems - but I’ve recorded multiple occurrences of each problem as it’s happened. Seems strange that the warranty wouldn’t cover this and I can’t imagine that that I’m just left with a brand new car that doesn’t function properly, right? I do have an consultation with a lawyer next week to find out what my rights are vs. theirs but thought it wouldn’t hurt to come on here and learn from others who’ve maybe experienced this in the past or present. Any stories or advice warmly welcomed.

My screen became unresponsive once. Had to completely shut off the jeep. Almost 7000 miles on it.

wireless CarPlay seems extremely responsive.

None of your issues except for Siri going really, really crazy. Like I ask "Drive me home", and it responds "I prefer riding shotgun", or some other totally nonsense. Funny as hell, but hasn't done that few weeks back.

Same story with the dealer as well? Refusal to further investigate? Do you also have a uconnect5 system on a 2024?

Just a heads up these types of issues are incredibly common on the JL, WL, and wagoneer's equipped with the uconnect 5 system. It's just horrendous software, and the dealer can't really do anything to help you. Random restarts, audio cutting out, screen going blank, etc. All very, very common. Most will be "fixed" with over the air updates as time goes on.

I'd only bring it to the dealer if the problems are excessive, like it blanking out every other time you drive the vehicle. If it happens once or twice a week you're just going to have to deal with it. The best we can do is replace the radio, but that's a crapshoot overall.

It's a software issue at the end of the day and until engineering figures out why their uconnect software developers are total dogshit the problems will unfortunately persist.

We had the same issues with my wifes GCL right after we bought it. The dealer said the same crap after they kept the vehicle. I really don't want some tech driving it around town to run erronds to see the problem first hand so we just stopped bringing it back to the dealer. Eventually after enough resets and software updates the problems went away.

I'm sorry to hear of your experiences but it’s hopeful to learn that eventually updates have solved your issues. I’m hoping that’s my experience as well and wasn’t anything more than a little irritated until last week with the pixelation during screen freeze. I’m no tech but that definitely has me worried that there is something more going on with the actual system that updates won’t fix.

Hello. I have an iPhone 14 version 17.4.1.
While somethings could certainly be first pointed at phone issues, I can’t imagine screen freezing or pixelating could be anything but the uconnect system itself. I should also mention that my husbands iPhone 10 would exhibit the same issues when we tested it. I just don’t think it’s the phone.

Phone does not have anything to do with the screen freezing or most of the other problems we had as the phone was not even plugged in. With that said, some of the connectivity problems were solved with a better than Amazon junk lightining cord.

I just purchased a Wrangler 6/16/24 and the entire radio unit failed 4 days after. Screen is black. Reboot attempts didn't work. Dealer ordered the part but it won't arrive for 2-3 WEEKS!

Does your settings have the Voice tab as pictured below?

I figured I'd chimes in here..new sahara only 2400 mi..my screen has frozen up a few times..Android auto doesn't connect sometimes I use Samsung s22 phone.but I know its not the phone I shut off radio while driving hold down volume button let screen go blank it helps sometimes..question is I found in settings. Systems update..should I click on that or is the horrible u5 connect supposed to update itself periodically? What would dealer do for me?
