I was on vacation last week in the Smokey Mountains. The Jeep was great for all the mountain driving, but one morning, my Uconnect completely died. It went blank just before parking at a store. When I came out of the store (about 10 minutes later) it still wouldn't turn on. I restarted a few times with no luck; it still remained off. I also didn't have any power coming out of the USB ports, so I was wondering if maybe a fuse went out. But then after about 45 minutes of driving followed by about two hours of the car being off, the Uconnect started working normally. I haven't had any problems since.
Anyone have this issue before or know what might have caused it? I am wondering if the circuitry got too hot or something. It was in the 90s and I think both my wife and I were charging our phones through USB. If there's thermo-regulator that got too hot, that would act like a fuse being out and cut power until it cooled down sufficiently. Either something like that or a loose wire that jiggled out and back in is all I can think of.
