Attempting to revive this.

When I called asking about the uconnect5 both Uconnect and Jeep Cares cited their press release saying "by end of 2022"....

What they did tell me was that it has been delayed due to microchip shortage, now whether that is a convenient excuse or actual fact who knows? I do see the 8.4 inch in the grand Cherokee redesign. So I'm pushing my order till 2023... As long as prices don't keep climbing. For now I'll deal with my plagued uconnect4.
2022s models are not even out yet. I ordered a 2022 and it pains me knowing I will be getting the crappy UConnect4 again. :puke:Hopefully 2023s will have a mid-model refresh.

Literally have to decide if putting two kids in a car seat in my two door is manageable and then removing them to fold the seat down to get the 100lb dog in the back is worth the headache of waiting for uconnect5. ? My back tells me no but the kids didn't exist in 2018 and life was much easier with a dog...

The kids and dog ride at the same time ever? That sounds rough if it is your only vehicle. Is your JL your only vehicle? A 2023 is easily a full 12 months out. Even then, who knows if UConnect 5 will show up with all these supply shortages? I would bet UC5 shows up in 2023 if supplies are not an issue though.

We have a truck but not extended cab so the back seat is basically the same. Although the dog can go in truck bed and has. SO works weekdays and I work weekends and knock on wood I haven't had to carry all three together yet. But I have made two trips to drops the kids off to go back and take the dog to the vet and that's a headache. I'm gonna bet you're right. But given the history with uconnect and the problems I'm seeing on cars that already have it im not hopeful
