Yesterday I found a 21' Willys for sale at a dealership near me and got a certificate from Truecar that gave $2700 off msrp. Called the dealership and a guy said yeah, we'll make it work. I leave a deposit and start running numbers and at the last minute they tell me they can't accept it and it was a mistake. Has this happened to anyone before? Do they have to honor the Truecar certificate? I reached out to Truecar and they said they do and will escalate the situation. ??‍♂

My understanding is TrueCar's posted prices are pre-negotiated and agreed upon by both the dealer and TrueCar.

Dealers are happy to take leads from TrueCar in normal times, but these are not normal times so who knows.

Good luck.

If they don’t honor it they will probably lose their true car account. Or get a ding and after enough they will lose it. It’s short sighted of them to burn that lead generator because of the times. They’ll miss it in a year or so when things start to straighten up.
