Hello,

I have a 2022 4xe HA with the factory trailer tow and heavy duty electrical group package. I tried to tow a utility trailer this past weekend but when I connected the 7-pin none of the lights worked on the trailer. The same trailer connected to my fathers 2021 GMC Sierra the lights work just fine. I purchased a Curt 7-pin tester and everything is working fine on the JLU. Any ideas why the trailer works on the GMC and not the JLU? Appreciate help in advance!

Can you kindly advise what fuse is for the trailer? If the fuse were blown would it work with the tester?

Under the hood passenger side. Cover of the fuse box will tell you the location of the fuse in the fuse box.

@Fgonzal2

Do try to connect that same "utility trailer" using the 4 pin connector on your 2022 JL. Post back the result of doing that.

That is a great recommendation. I’ll purchase the adapter and let you know how that goes.

Your "utility trailer" had a 7 pin connector on it and not a 4 pin connector?

Also... it is not unusual for a guy/gal to plug in the 7 pin in incorrectly into the JL's female 7 pin receptacle... Yup.
Watch closely closely next time you try to connect that 7 pin. Good chance error on your part.

Correct, the utility trailer has a 7 pin connector so I’ll need an adapter to use the 4 pin.

Isn’t there only one way the 7 pin will fit into the slot? There is a “groove” in the 7 pin and only way it will go in is to align them. In my case I had to rotate the 7 pin on the trailer 90 degrees clockwise.

Double check that you got the plug pushed all the way in.

Just watch when you plug in the 7 pin... Yes, It can be plugged in incorrectly... Also, plug in firmly.
Again, there is a chance you had it inserted wrong.. It happens..

Roger that. I’ll try it once again to make sure it was correct. Do you still recommend I try with a 4 pin adapter?

I would suspect that the trailer 7 pin connector is not wired correctly

I myself think it is prudent to have in your "trailering bag" an adapter.... Also, have on your smartphone, info in regard to each fuse in the PDC related to the tow package.

With that said, do try an adapter but I do think you probably just has the 7 pin male plugged into the female on the JL incorrectly. It happens..

This is my first vehicle with a towing receiver so I’ll make sure I purchase the adapter. I will double check to make sure I had it seated correctly. Will post back once I verify. Appreicate the help!
