I've never made a purchase based on what a market or society's view of what it may be worth later. I always try to decipher what it will be worth to me tomorrow, 5 years from now and enjoy it.

To quote the Hodge Twins "Do whatever the F you want"
I said that first

was joking. both they and I apparently don't give a F

you all should do what you want to do. it's your sheeit
There's a guy on here that has done some questionable things to his jeep..... to the point that he may need pharmaceutical intervention.... Most don't give a F build/deconstruction I have ever seen. But, He's enjoying himself, and that's all that matters. I don't think he is worried about trade in values either.

Cool. Your money, your jeep, your way. Like burger king except fat chicks can't get through the door.

There are some youtube guys (search YAA). the dad is an ex car salesman, the son looks and posts the weekly statistics on car prices. they have been pretty accurate on calling this correction all the way through.

the last video I watched, they believed prices would continue down into the summer.
it depends on when you need the jeep and how long you are willing to wait.

I'll be 60 this august. Time is worth something. I bought my wife a jeep at Gupton in October and was pretty sure this was gonna happen. (which is why i bought new and plan to keep a long time)

I didn't however want to wait till i was 61. At this point for me, time is more valuable than money. I got no Idea how much time i got left.
I'm in the same boat (kinda).
My jeep got wrecked on the freeway by an older couple in a big truck. So I am without a vehicle and need to get one asap.
Also, I'm only 41, but have a heart pump (lvad) and only have about 6 years to live, unless my miracle I am granted a heart transplant.
I was wondering if I should stretch out my finance to 84 months ?

Maybe you should go for a baloon payment at the end? ?

All kidding aside, I wish you the best of luck!

I don't know if anyone here has noticed, but dealer lots are full of cars now compared to the last couple of years when you couldn't find shit on the lots.
Oh yeah. Not only that, but these boilerplate dealer websites have BS marketing jargon such as "this vehicle is hot and is going to sell soon" when the picture of it has lush green trees in the background because it was taken six months ago.

I guess y’all can’t keep trading your less than one year old Jeep for a brand new model every time a new season rolls around! Mwahahahaha!

This does not apply to you rich folks ?.

on a real note…

I’d expect more people will continue to be surprised as used cars and trade in values continue to go back to normal. Im sure this won’t be the last thread. If you got a sweet deal on a trade during the pandemic spike, awesome, now hold onto what you traded for and just enjoy it!
Alot of people who brought cars (that depreciate like a rock) will be in for a surprise when they trade it in and see how much more they are upside down because they paid much more over MSRP then they should have during the pandemic spike as you mentioned.

Was not like ancient history they went out of business with GM crashing with everything else in 2008ish.

They were decent cars though and yes salesmen didn't get commission and you paid what it said on the sticker, no haggling etc. Tesla didn't invent that sales model, just the no dealer franchise thing. Were budget cars, I owned one it ran forever and was still running when I sold it off several years later.

Oh and they got great MPG.
I don't remember anyone back in those days not loving their OG Saturn.

Same. I've never met anyone that actually owned one that didn't like them, and those that never owned one either found them mildly interesting (plastic door, business model) or didn't really care one way or the other. Wasn't until the past few years that I've noticed them getting a bit of hate any time they're mentioned online.

Can't wait for people to be in a hard spot?
Call it whatever you want. Don't much care.

Zero sympathy for all the fools that paid 10k over msrp. In fact.

LOVE IT

Let it be a hard lesson for those that need it. I'm betting there will be some nice articles written about it over the next 3 years or so.
