I’m looking at 9/16 bolts for the track bar. Will the JK bolts fit the JL. I have extra from last rig. And am looking to order some and am finding mainly JK ones. Thanks

They should be metric bolts. They are also a high grade, heat treated bolt. So, better to get the OEM bolts.

I don’t want oem bolts. They’re too small in diameter. They’re the issue. The track bar mount wallows out. I want grade 8 bolts like we ran in the JKs

What are the measurements? Are they the same as the JK

Use a M14-1.5 70mm partial thread bolt, washer and lock nut on both ends. Gold zinc plated works well to prevent corrosion. Use a 22mm socket and torque to 135 ft/lbs.

This is what comes in the Grimm Offroad hardware upgrade kit.

OK. I measured my brand new Metalcloak trackbar in the garage. The steel inner bushings in it are about .564" which should be a good fit for 9/16 bolts if you get on the smooth shank. The issue is most of the time, the bolt threads are riding on the bracket, at least on one end. Threads are under nominal bolt diameter by design and there is little surface area when riding on the threads.

For the grip length of the bolt, use your calipers and measure the clamped up thickness of the clevis/bracket.

Takes slop out of the holes.
-needs to be long enough there’s no thread in the holes.

I read somewhere that all these parts are made for 9/16 but Jeep is using metric so it’s got slop.

Yeah the bigger ones are 9/16 as Is the the hole they use. Was just making sure since I have extras. Surprised this isn’ta bigger thing. The track bar mount frame side is still made of shit metal. I got new track bar and brace with hardware.

I hear you. The only way to make it really right is to machine some chromoly thick washers and weld them to the attach clevis. It's as much about the thickness of where the bolt rides as the material. Maybe more so.

And this is why boys and girls, you change out the oem hardware at the very least.
Brand new Willys.
This wear is after 836 miles. Roughly 450 miles on 35s and maybe 200 miles on the lift. The oem track bar was already getting grooves in the sleeves.
The track bar mounts frame side and axle are starting to deform. And we’re cut into from the smaller threaded oem bolts.
