TPMS swap - frequency compatibility question

Hello!
I have a '21 JLU Sahara with stock wheels and TPMS sensors. I'd like to buy some take-off '25 JLU stock Sahara wheels. The owner of the '25 wheels removed the TPMS sensors to put on his new wheels.
I know there was a frequency change with the JL TPMS sensors right around my '21 mid-year build date.
Since the '25 wheels have had their sensors removed, can I simply put in my '21 sensors and everything be compatible and communicate correctly related to the different wheels and frequency issue?

Assuming your existing sensors are in good condition they will continue to function correctly in the new wheels

Yep! Functioning just fine!
Forgot to ask if there is a sensor size issue with the new wheels - are all sensors for JLs the same size?
Another question... how difficult will it be to remove the sensors from my '21 and install them in the new wheels? And can somewhere like Firestone do it? I hope it won't cost a fortune

It will be a routine swap for any tire shop with no issues. They attach to the valve stem inside of the wheel with a screw. Here is a pic as an example although not your exact setup.

They screw onto the valve stems, make sure you have the right ones. My new wheels came with non TPMS stems and I ended up with what the tire shop had, a little longer than wanted.

They screw onto the valve stems, make sure you have the right ones. My new wheels came with non TPMS stems and I ended up with what the tire shop had, a little longer than wanted.

Don't do that. Your '21 sensors are 5+ years old. The batteries are nearly gone. Get new ones.

More new knowledge! I had no idea the sensors required batteries!
So, in general, how often do TPMS sensors need to be replaced?
I know you can buy aftermarket sensors, but would you use OEM sensors when replacing them? I don't mind spending the extra $ if OEM would be best since they have to communicate with the computer (I'm sure there is a much more technical and correct name for what the sensors communicate with - lol), etc.

I've heard that repeated by many folks, but I've got 7 year old ones in my JL and 13 year old ones in my Nissan. 11 year old ones in my dad's GMC. Zero issues so far. Maybe the cold up here keeps em good!

Heck, the near new McGard acorn lugs and locks didn’t work with the aftermarket wheels either, socket rubbed them. The tire shop had Gorilla splines. Oh well, the McGard fit the GC, with leftovers. But not a complete waste.

I agree, I would replace. My F150 was fine, decided to save the money and didn't replace, one month later dead batteries. Still have the stupid light on because I'm cheap. On a related note, OEM or aftermarket, apparently Chrysler Jeep Dodge are all super sensitive, probably best luck with OEM but can still be a gamble. I say this as I have an appointment to install my second set of sensors to try to get it working with my new tires.
