I bought the 17” factory wheels from the dealer to upgrade my standard 16”. They were takeoffs. My TPMS isn’t working. Does anyone know if most of the Jeep tires have TPMS in them. If not , is there any way to remove the warning light. I don’t think mine has that feature since is a cheaper model. Thanks

All JL's by law, have tire pressure monitoring...

Good chance that the wheels you purchased do not have TPMS sensors in them. A tire store, a dealership service department or someone with the appropriate hand scanner can tell in seconds if a wheel has a TPMS sensor installed on it.

So, you have two choices... You can buy a programmer like the Tazer JL and just turn off TPMS and forget tire pressure monitoring or you can go to say a Direct Tire store and have then check for TPMS sensors in all wheels to include spare and if none are installed in them, then install them.

In regard to your JL's TPMS:

How does the JL/JLU know which tire/rim/wheel is where .....

Well, there are 3 sensors on the chassis that monitor the 4 TPMS Sensors found on the 4 tire (rim) positions.

Info from the 3 chassis sensors is transmitted to the Wireless Control Module. There is no need for a 4th chassis sensor as the computer uses the process of elimination to determine the fourth tire location.

Yes, your JLU/JL knows exactly which rim is where, within seconds of a tire rotation for example.

There is a TPMS sensor in the factory mounted spare but it is not read by a chassis sensor/ considered by the computer until it is placed in one of the 4 tire positions.
