Just pointing out that the link on eBay is for $69.99. I received one of the trial sets that I have yet to install - I'm waiting to paint the brackets first. And I just received the bushings. I'll admit I'm slightly worried about drilling out the door detents, but other than that, I think this is a great idea. I take the doors off and on all the time and this will be a great time-saver. If that kit comes with the brackets already painted black, then I think $70 is a fair price.

In a message to me he said he was going to drop the price soon..."The pricing was previously reflected off of the prototyping material cost. Our team should be updating it sometime this week, if I had to guess it will be in the $75 range"

Damn I need to stay off these forums. Order placed as I "Need" these and did not even know I did. Now to watch the mailbox so I can grab them before the wife notices I spent more money. LoL

I was part of the testing group. Great product and they responded to feedback immediately. I’ve placed an order for a second set to put on @R4NS0M’s rig.

Pro tip for the install: Use a Dremel w/ a cutting disk to remove the bracket from the detent arm. Just slice through the pin on both sides. Drilling out the pin head as suggested proved difficult and ultimately ineffective. Switching to the Dremel method saved me about 20 minutes per door.

This is offered at $89.99. Seems like he's trying to recoup his costs for development in a couple of weeks. I was thinking I'd pay $15 or $20 for it. Guess not
Is that for each bracket or for a set of 4?

So does the final version available for sale now come with the bushings or a larger pin? the ebay listing doesn't show a bushing.

Just a little tip. The brass bushings that come with the kit needs to be pressed in carefully or they will get damaged. I ruined a couple so I went to ACE and got steel bushings to use i stead. Much more durable. Just bring the pin with you and make sure you use the right steel bushings with the correct ID or you will get popping.

I had bought the squirrelly Quick Connect bracket assembly for my doors and the pins with the split ring never worked well, it took too much force to pull them out and I would keep stretching the rings. I swapped to the locking pins, but they were too long and while they worked, they weren’t ideal either. While the back doors worked as expected, I could never get the front door pins to match with the bracket. I could remove them with force, but would have to loosen the bolt on the bracket to put the catch back in place, which kind of defeated the whole purpose.

So, when the 26 doors came out, I decided to try them and am very pleased with the result. The look better and fit better than the squirrelly brackets. You canā€˜t buy the brackets themselves, but I thought if my original catches didn’t work, then I would be able to remove the interior door panels and swap them out. I didn’t have to do that.

Having the quick brackets, I had already removed the original pressed dowel pins and the original bracket. I had also already installed the brass bushings to prevent the click. If you go this route you don’t have to add the bushing, the new Jeep pins are larger in diameter than the 1/4ā€ pins With squirrelly. If you already have them installed in the catches, they are easy enough to remove with a 5/16ā€ punch set. If you haven’t here is your install:

1. Once you have removed the original dowel and bracket, use a 21/54ā€ drill bit through the rubber bushing. You won’t be removing much, but I found any smaller bit and the pin won’t fit. A slightly larger bit and you run the risk of the click coming back. The 21/54ā€ bit worked perfectly and there is still plenty of bushing around the catch. (If you haven’t installed the brass bushings and doing this fresh, you may want to start with two sizes smaller and work up to the 21/54ā€ just so you aren’t stripping away too much at once)
2. Install the brackets to the body with your existing T40 screw. the lock side of the pin faces away from the vehicle and you will need to order two front door catches (the brackets are reversible, so no defined orientation when ordering (68672509AC) and one door check, left. (68672511AA), and one door check, right ( 68672510AA).
3. Reattach the doors to the hinges and slide your pin in, lock it, and your done.

Looks clean, no painting, and easier to remove and reinstall. (Still a tight fit and no clicking)

The cost for the 4 catches was about $90.00, but I paid like $80 or $90 for the squirrelly disconnects and then probably another $24 for the locking pins to replace the split ring ones that came with the set. So, yes if you already have it like me and swap you will pay ~$200, but if you don’t, it is a wash.

I will add, three of the brackets were on back order and so I don’t know how well stocked everyone is. I went ahead and got the right rear door check first and that gave me time to try and see if it would work. When the other 3 came in, it took maybe 30 minutes from doors off to back on and everything in place.
