He's running 255 width tires. The wider wheels will make him lose a bead more easily and prevent airing down to the lower pressures, plus less protection from the tire sidewall on rocks.
255s max rim width is 8"? i thought it was 8.5

It is but running 255 (10") on 8.5" is like running 12.5" wide tires on 11" wide rims. No way am I doing that. 7.5" is already wider than I prefer. You want least 3 inches narrower than the tire for the strongest bead retention.

Agreed, its going to be sketchy to air down past 18-20psi in that setup. 8.5" is the maximum range for 255 tires.

I have your solution. You said you want +6mm offset?

1. Buy this 17x6.5" awesome steel wheel in +50mm offset (model # X-41753) https://alliedwheel.com/products/70-winter-wheel?variant=34299512389677

2. Buy 1.75" black wheel spacers (Spidertrax, Bora, Teraflex, etc. Lots of choices)

3. +50mm minus 44mm (1.75") equals +6mm.

4. Fete me as the lord of the pizza cutters.

Offset: -12mm, -0.472 Inch
Backspacing: 4 Inch, 102mm

I've never been a fan of wheel spacers even though that will solve my problem. I need to check with State of VA inspector to make sure they are legal. I thought I had read some where they are not. As much as I love pizza cutters, given the lack of skinny wheel choices, I feel as though I bought the wrong size tires. ?

Not sure where you get those numbers from? Not the wheel I suggested. In any event backspace also includes wheel width, so it's possible to have -12mm offset and 4 inch backspacing. That would be a 8" wheel.

One of the links greywolf sent me. The offset and back spacing had me confused but then I realized it was a negative 12.

The offsets are going to take me a little while to get used too but I'm getting there.

Ya know that thought has actually crossed my mind. At least then I would have an awry of wheels to choose from. I would probably go with 35x12.5" tires but yeah, if you can't beat them, join them.
I would need more of a suspension lift, gas mileage would take a hit, after market tire carrier, brake upgrade, probably a handful of other things, hopefully I can change a tire running solo, with a broken back and arthritis in my spine. All in all, it's doesn't sound too bad given my wheel choices for 255/80r17 tires - Zero!

I only ride in groups, though I can do it I just would regret it the next day.. mine are currently 129 lbs. Getting a decent 15 to 16 mpg post 4.88 gears. This is 37s but going 38s next few weeks those are I think we came up with 141 lbs as I am going to a heavier wheel too. Ironically 40s would have been cheaper.

I'm not sure I understand your question, I have a 2023 sport and to be honest I have crunched so many numbers, variables, BS, offsets in the last 48 hrs. I've been awake for 2 days; my brain feels like a feather in a whirlwind.
Sorry, just pointing out your clearance is only 3/4 of an inch less than a stock Rubicon (i.e., your end solution shouldn’t require more than 3/4” to resolve). If a stock Rubicon does not rub on a +44 285/70, it seems like you could get by with +25 on your current pizza cutter. In fact, a Mohave +37 and your current 255/80 would still have .13 more clearance than a stock Rubi. Obviously, more clearance is better though ?.

Lifting 141 + lbs. in a very awkward position, all hunched over, trying to lift & line up the lug nuts. I'd be stranded.

Yes, you're correct. I believe a +25mm offset would be fine to clear the Apex links with my skinny tire. The problem is finding a 7.5" wheel with +25mm offset. ?
