Have the dash tire pressure warning light coming on...flashes for 30 secs then on steady...all tire pressures good after checking with gauge and selecting on instr. panel. Dealer says all 4 tire pressure sensors need replaced and wants just under $1000 to do it.
Anyone else had this problem and is there a better fix?
Thanks

That's why we call 'em "stealerships". That's an absurd quote.

In other news, I've had nothing but problems with the TPMS system in my '18 JLUR, especially after going to 37" tires. I'm fixin' to just disable it with the Flashcal.

$1000?!?! for just the sensors? Also, there's a sensor in the spare as well, so 5.

Does it say inflate to XXX? To get the alert to reset, you may need to over inflate and drop them back down where you want them.

If it is really the sensors. I'd think Discount tire would take care of it for a couple hundred bucks.

It's always better to accurately reply to the OP when there is more data to make an intellegent response.
  • Month and year of build?
  • Stock wheels/tires or aftermarket?
  • If aftermarket, recently installed?

No inflate to, just solid light after 30 secs.
Price is for 4 sensors and install...I said no to them.
Thanks

It's extremely rare, I'd say next to impossible that all the sensors need to be replaced at the same time. But let's say that's true, oem TPMS are only $81 each (part number 68241067AB ). Even if all 5 needed replaced, that's $400. Cost to remove sensors and install new ones, mount/balance the tires is $22 each at Discount Tire, so another $100.

Find a more competent service department.

Need to take it to another dealership. much less likely that they all went bad vs glitchy software.

danfelix might be on to something though. If you are lucky enough to live where there are discount tires, I‘d go by one and see what they think.

Crazy!
buy this if you need a TPMS
I use them when I pull my Jeep.
But you can use them as a system in any vehicle.

I deal with TPMS lights all of the time for various manufacturers. Dealers and most shops have a tool to check what TPMS is dead or ready to go dead. On a daily basis, I just check them all and then replace which one is dead. It might be just one or two. What I find is that if one is dead, then the other 4 (as a Jeep has 5) will probably be failing soon. On the other hand, I see you have a 2018 and normally most of these TPMS's last 10 years. What does kill the battery is during the first cold spell and that's when it's a constant march of people coming in with TPMS lights.

As per the previous comment, if it flashes and then turns solid, you have a dead sensor. I would love for a customer to give us $1K just to change out all 5 sensors. I'll take 50% of that profit in cash and walk away.

When my Xterra did the same 30 sec flash, then solid, it meant the valves had to be manually reset. I went to a tire company and they did it for nothing. It worked. No valve removal, it was all done automagically.
I will do that.
Thank you
