Tie rod & Drag link install.

Hello all

I have asked an experienced jeeper for some pointers on tie rod & drag link install and got good suggestions.

In reading some instructions from different mfg's one says axle on jack stands, wheels off. One doesn't even mention axle on stands, and wheels off. One says you might need a pickle bar, one says just beat it with hammer.

So, can I get some suggestions from other experienced jeepers on what they did to install the new tie rod and drag link. I know it's not rocket science. Just looking for how things worked out for others.

Me and Colby did wheels off on stands, just easier for me to manipulate stuff and plenty of room to work…..

Same here, but minus the kitty...wheels off on jack stands. I used a pickle fork since getting the joint out of the Pitman arm is a job. I wouldn't have known of another way to beat that m-f'er off.

Pickle fork for the drag link here too. The other three joints are fine with a hammer, IIRC there's not enough room to swing a hammer above the pitman arm. You will completely destroy the stock joint doing it.

You will def want wheels off, axle on jack stands, during install and DIY alignment. You can sometimes get away without using the pickle fork on most joints, except for where the draglink connects to the pitman arm.
