curious, so you have hard top off and doors off, but keep freedom panels on? pic please- thanks
I have done that some for sun protection and you can just put them in their bag in the back in a pinch. It looks ok, but there are other options

Do you use a cab cover when it's parked or overnight to keep elements out? If so, which one? I'm eyeing the Rain Gear cover but curious as to how well it keeps out rain. If it does well, then I would go doorless more.
I have the Rain Gear cover and have used it for overnight parking on many occasions. Does a great job of keeping the rain out. It has puddled on the top but never leaked inside and I just unclip one side and lift it to drain.

It has worked so well for myself that two of my brothers got one for there Wranglers as well. My last brother just got his 392 and hasn't gotten to where he has went topless yet so it will be a bit before he is looking.

James, as a fellow PA resident I'm curious - have you ever had any undue attention from law enforcement while running doorless?

I've been doing this for 15 years and a few hundred-thousand miles. I've passed literally hundreds of Leo's, both municipal and state, and have never even noticed a 2nd glance.
I put about 70k on my TJ dooless in SE PA and got exactly zero cop attention from it. I didn't even run mirrors.

Naked except for a mesh bimini top for 8+ months of the year. Even at highway speeds, I find the doors off experience exhilarating.
That said, this is not a daily driver, and is rarely at freeway speeds.

Once your eardrums are destroyed, it gets easier.
If God didn't want you to assault your eardrums we wouldn't have removable doors, heavy metal, or guns.

In my old 98 TJ, I once drove from Albany NY to Rausch Creek in PA, no doors, all windows out, because I had no AC, so why not? It was 100 degrees that day. I left late afternoon and probably 4-5 hours later it was just under 80 degrees when I got to the hotel in PA. It was an adventure for sure.

The doors aren't coming off my JLUR until the kids get older. I don't need their things flying out of the Jeep on the road.
I'm counting down the days till my 6 month old is ready for doors off/top off Jeep rides. She'll just have to entertain herself by looking at things.

I got a written warning this weekend for no doors and tinted taillights in Lodi Wisconsin.
I guess they hate jeeps here.

I thought PA was the only state where doorless driving was explicitly prohibited. Perhaps not. At least it was just a warning...and getting one for tinted tail light lenses is understandable. Some of them look dim even at night.

Couple things that will make it “feel” better for you….. get some foot pegs and side mirrors….. the foot pegs I use for stability… believe it or not, it helps me to be able to check the mirror…. I think we look at the side mirror more than we realize…. I found myself constantly looking at the door hinge when running it without mirrors, and when I put them on , it was a totally different feeling…For me that makes it a lot nicer experience….. obligatory pics…….

Having mirrors when doors are off is also good insurance to keep the LEO’s from bothering you.

Yep.

I'm just old enough to remember when pax-side mirrors were still options on a fair number of vehicles. My father would always add them to his vehicle orders, if they weren't standard fitments. We may complain about how Stellantis nickles-and-dimes us when buying Wranglers, but trust me: it's been going on for decades now.

I'm a mirror-using fiend, and would have both sides installed even if the law didn't mandate their presence. On that point, a few folks have wondered out loud why I tend not to use the Jeep's backup camera when reversing and/or parking. I reply truthfully that I was taught to use my mirrors, and that old habits die hard. The Jeep is the first vehicle I've owned with such a camera, and they just didn't exist when I learned to drive in the 80s. :)

I hear ya! My Father in Law was with me the other day and he noticed I used my mirrors to back up instead of my back up camera and he kinda chuckled. I use it to check behind me at times but just automatically use my mirrors. I have had a CDL for about 25 years since I’m a diesel tech by trade; it’s mirrors or nothing on an 18 wheeler.

I’ve never heard of police ticketing a jeep for going topless/doorless, perhaps because I’ve never known cops that had nothing more useful to do. (Although I did hear about FL beach police ticketing jeeps for “going 15 in a 10mph zone”, so I suppose anything is possible.)
