What is grocery store beer?
It's beer that you buy in a grocery store.

Until recently, in PA you could not legally purchase any type of alcohol in a grocery store, gas station, convenience store etc.

It's not.

I have no idea why folks who are so adverse to the elements buy these things, but oh well...
Some of us buy Jeeps only for the offroad capability. I don't care one bit to ever remove the doors or top. In fact, aside from the awful mess of dust I'd be covered in on the dirt roads in Arizona (terrible for the lungs), it would also leave me no protection for all my gear in my Jeep while I'm gone for 8-10 hours in remote areas.

And lest anyone think I'm averse to the elements, I'm engaged in serious all-day outdoor exertions that few on this forum could keep up with. I probably spend more time in nature than most people here. But I don't want deafening noise for 3 hours on the ride home, I don't want my maps and all my items blown out of the Jeep, I like to converse with my friends while driving down the highway, and I don't want to eat or breathe fifty pounds of dust.

That’s the only reason I have a Jeep. If it weren’t for the doors and top off ability I wouldn’t even consider one. Comparing it to a motorcycle I’d much rather get T boned in a Jeep.

I love driving with no doors/roof, actually crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge is like going on a ride! Hahah.

I really enjoyed it but wow. Yeah this is best left for trails. Daily driving around town was a bit intense. Especially on the highway. I'm a big guy too. Which means I tend to...start to....fall out when making right turns. HAH! Still, looks great! (doors now back on, windows I keep off)

Couple things that will make it “feel” better for you….. get some foot pegs and side mirrors….. the foot pegs I use for stability… believe it or not, it helps me to be able to check the mirror…. I think we look at the side mirror more than we realize…. I found myself constantly looking at the door hinge when running it without mirrors, and when I put them on , it was a totally different feeling…For me that makes it a lot nicer experience….. obligatory pics…….

I have run my jeeps with only a mesh top or a bikini top in the summer since the 70s, but northwest summers used to be beautiful, with moderate temperatures and clean air. We went four or five years without even owning a top for our last TJ, but we have garage space and other vehicles to drive when the weather turns bad.

Unfortunately, our summers are hotter now, and we seem to go from high pollen season to constant forest fire season, to rain, snow, and ice, so it’s less fun having the top off. Still, ripping around topless is a great jeep joy. The top hasn‘t ben on my jeep in two years. If I spent three hours per day commuting on the highway I’d change jobs or buy another vehicle.

Half doors are the "just the tip" of the Jeep world. :)
I like half doors cuz you get a much more open feeling and my wife will let me have the kids (3 & 6) with half doors but not with no doors. In fact, when I do want to go doorlesss, I still have to leave the back to halfies on.

But, top less and doorless is the superior configuration. Just feels right, with all that air circulation for the lower body (if you know what I mean)

With the "Jeeping" of every car out there be it huge tires and recovery hooks on everything,
I expect to see more vehicles have the no doors "feature".

My fav is windows out, safari mode, doors off. No sun burn, far less buffeting, but still get that nice open feeling as the breeze flows freely thru the Jeep...

I am literally contemplating taking my doors off right now. For a week, the highs are 80-81. The only issue is the lows are still in the 50s and we take the boys to school in the mornings. If it wasnt for that, they would definitely be off already lol.

I prefer my doors off most of the time. I wear earbuds with different levels of noise cancelling so I can adjust so I am still aware of my surroundings but block out a lot of the noise. I unfortunately usually have to install them prior to offroading because the trails are usually full of mud pits. If there isn't mud, they are to dusty to see.

I agree. I had never been in a Jeep on the highway with no doors before until last summer, and at first it felt very, very weird and unsafe. But after a day or two it felt normal, and I could just enjoy the fresh air. Then after the doors went back on, it felt weird and claustrophobic

The wind noise is really something though. I commute 3 hours on the highway every day, and after getting there it always felt like I just walked out of a death metal concert. I solved that by just buying another car for commutes.
Talked to a guy a few weeks back that was selling his JK and said he has always rode with top down and most of the time doors off but recently had a visit with his audiologist and he has “truckers ear”. They make pretty sophisticated ear protection plugs nowadays that are comfortable and have relief valve in them. The valve is open during lower noise level situations but close down under higher db levels.
My wife and I love having top back and doors off but this made us think a little about our ears. Getting older has its own hurdles with hearing so a little protection could be wise. At least in outboard ear anyway.
Food for thought at least.

Take my doors and top off around May and leave them off till September. I don't care how long the drive is, or if it's raining. I'm driving my Jeep. The wind doesn't bother me. That's the one benefit to being hard of hearing and needing hearing aids. I have traveled several miles away from home, went camping, and wheeling with no top or doors. If you don't get rained on at least once a year then you're not enjoying your Jeep.
