Having had my 2024 JLURX for 4.5 months now and after ordering in October of 2023, you have visions in your mind with what you want. I took the eight months of waiting and begin stashing items away to add when it finally arrived. Some things like the 2024 PowerTank BTS bracket and the SMS kayak baskets werenât ready and I have added them as they became available. Others sat patiently waiting to be installed until the Jeep arrived and I could find the time to get to it. Finally, I feel like it is coming together and while I will never âofficiallyâ be done, I like the progress.
Where I could, I wanted to go for the tubular black powder-coated look. I also wanted the ability to add a roof rack, but one that wasnât so permanent that would prevent me from easily taking the top on and off. To that end, I went with the Maximus-3 stinger, the SMS EXR click-in cross bars and their new Kayak basket, and Goat Fabircationâs angled JL rock sliders. For all 3, I had questions, and whether it was Adam at GOAT, George At SMS, or the team at Maximus-3, I was able to get each one of them on the phone and talk through what I wanted to do and they were more than helpful in steering me in the right direction.
I have included a few photos, but I did want to give a shout out to Adam at GOAT because that was the very first item I purchased for the Jeep after I placed the order. In my mind, I was going to go with the step and the plate which I referenced in an email. It was less than 30 minutes that I got a call from Adam and we talked through what I wanted to ultimately accomplish and I actually went with the more traditional and in my mind more effective JL sliders. He was even willing to hold on to them until the Jeep came in, which I thought was January. Well it wasnât. It was June and when they arrived in January, I stored them for the next six months. When the Jeep arrived on June 3rd, I called Adam back just to make sure I knew what to expect when removing the bolts and installing the sliders and he again took my call, answered every question I had, and assured me that I wouldnât strip a bolt on my less than a week-old Jeep.
That is what I like about this whole process. Yes, it is building the Jeep out, making it look better, making it work better, doing the work myself. But it is also the opportunity to learn and interact with some of the best. They have poured their hearts and soul Into their project and businesses, and their passion will always greatly exceed mine. So it is something I both aspire to and admire in each of them.
I have a couple of pictures of where I am today. I didnât share any âbeforeâ pictures, because with every addition this is now and there is no turning back. Reach out to Adam if you have any questions and he is going to help. Same with so many others out there. Worth your time, I promise.
