The hood scoop intake...

I get that it is open for air and the design for water fording BUT I cant help but think on the highway it wouldn't be impossible to have a rock kick up and go right through that spot and potentially cause major damage in the motor.

What do you guys think? Should there be maybe some small black screens in there so it still allows air/water to pass through but not a rock?

if a rock goes into that scoop with enough force to do damage then its not a rock and it's actually a bullet and you have larger issues.

that scoop isnt some magical straight shot into the engine.

It’s definitely more sand than regular enclosed intake.

No worries, you will have more sand in the cabin air filter than the engine filter.
