I’m considering a trip out to Katemcy (been 10 years since I’ve been) or WolfCaves (more familiar with the park) sometime this month or in June. Possibly Memorial Day weekend or June 12 weekend at K2. Like to run some mild-moderate trails. I’d also possibly like to run the hill country trail that’s been posted on here for a relaxing trail run. Any takers?

Edit::: 5/10/23. Tentative plan is to run the hill country overland trail June 9, then either run trails at K2 or WolfCaves June 10, then head home June 11. I plan to camp at one of those parks as they have nice facilities to shower. I’d like to run mild to moderate trails but willing to run whatever if someone decides to tag along.

We'll be out of town that weekend but did a portion of the overland discovery route two weeks ago.
We came across a bronco group going the other direction and waited for the group to finish a water crossing. One of them said the people that live in that area like to leave up the "road closed" signs. There was one on both ends of the section between Horseshoe Bay and Mason.

I’m a hard maybe. I’m off of work until mid June. Keep updated with details as you decide. Also, I don’t know whether to trust your idea of “mild-moderate” trails.

There's a group going down to Hidden Falls in a few weekends, rounding out with a portion of the Hill Country drive on Sunday, if you want to join. Not a Jeep group, specifically, but there's a lot of Jeeps within the group (myself included)

I guess I’ve never been a huge fan of HF as it really doesn’t appeal to me. But I’ll keep it in mind. Definitely woulda liked to meet up on that Sunday. Who knows, maybe I can make the weekend work. Affiliated with a specific four w

Interesting. Just pulled up the map to start planning a weekend trip. Thanks.

I hear you - I've done it once and it was fun, but not amazing. I'm more going just because it's been a long winter with lots of personal stuff going on and I needed to get out and get the Jeep dirty.

Understood. I’ve had that going for over a year.

I could be down for the hill country ride. Still learning the ropes and getting comfortable with the new ride so not sure I could hang with you in any of the parks.

Good chance I'll be going out to SWR on 6/17. It's outside Llano and has some great trails. SAJE runs it including trail guides for mild, moderate and wild groups.

I've done Northwest OHV (Bridgeport), Hidden Falls, and Hot Springs in my Sahara Altitude with only a 1.5" puck lift and 33" KO2s. You'll be more than fine in a Willys XR.

Don’t listen to @Chocolate Thunder I don’t wheel that hard. I won’t have my good buddy to wheel with so I always tend to stick to the easier stuff without him. We could definitely hit some mild stuff if you’re interested. One of my top goals for my JLUR is to not dent any body panels. That’s what my blazer crawler is for.

I would be in if there's any bit of it that's beginner friendly! It would be my first time as well.

I’d definitely be interested if the run was the weekend before or after Father’s Day. I really liked SWR when I last went about 10 years ago.

I'm not too concerned with the Jeep handling things. It will always be above my skill. I just don't have much experience going out and using it. Definitely down to get better though.
