😊
This old man got his fill of snow decades ago trudging around in the cold and wet to use winch assisted steering for my 63 with mechanical lockers that would just plow straight ahead regardless of how the wheels were turned. I only enjoy snow now looking at it from a warm spot with a coffee and Kahlua or similar.

I wasn’t smart enough to leave a hub unlocked until advised 😕 :headbang: after years of struggling and freezing. 🥶

I was really enjoying some good off-roading but the packed snow & slick ice left me no choice but to abort, tuck tail, turn around, and go home. 😥

I was sliding around way more than my heart could take. I really wanted to press on but (see last photo) it was a sheet of ice, one long slip & slide. I dont know if airing down lower may have helped. I don't have chains but they crossed my mind. Running solo and losing daylight was also a factor.

This is the first time I've ever had to turn around, I failed!

Would you have turned around or ran it?

@Flip , I ran it in the opposite direction the Sunday before you did. The snow was fresh on the ground and the temps were consistently in the 20s. The swamp area was completely frozen over with inch and a half thick ice. The deepest mud hole there dented my front bumper and tore out one of my fog lights when I was breaking through the ice. Other than that, lockers were what made parts of that trail successful for me. Hit me up if you ever want to run that trail again. It was fun.

Non-beadlock wheels you can air down to 12 psi and that should help. Take traction boards, kitty litter, and a shovel with you too. But never get in over your head unless others are around. I've turned around and went back. In this picture I slid down the hill and had to get yanked up from my friend with 40's and full lockers. I wouldn't have done it all on my own though.
