Hi, everyone. I have a set of 37s on order and a set of Rubicon take offs that I bought off of Facebook marketplace. I need TPMS sensors for the wheels. I'm leaning towards buying a set off of Amazon for about $50, but I'm worried about them not working after they are installed. Is there any way for me to test them in advance?

Not sure how you could test TPMS's in advance of purchase, epecially.

Suggest you buy the proper TPMS sensors for your model year JL from a know good seller like .... https://www.tpmsbargains.com/Jeep-WRANGLER-TPMS-Sensor-p/tpms-20398-03-jl-set5.htm
The TPMS's they sell are fresh stock, non counterfeit and their support is top notch. I only get TPMS from them. I know buying on eBAY & Amazon and such can be a real crap shoot.

Thanks for that link. I was not expecting to test before purchase as much as testing before installation. That way I don't have to pay to remount the tire if they are bad.

If you have a good TPMS tool, you can check that they are functional before installation, but I'm not sure that there's a convenient or reliable way to make sure your Jeep will recognize them before installation.

TPMS are not something I'd skimp on. Not for any sort of safety concern, but for the fact that it's a huge inconvenience to replace them if they aren't right. You could easily get into the $150-$200 range for labor, plus the cost of a new set of sensors. Not worth the gamble to maybe save $100 with no-name aftermarket parts.

Hello. As mentioned yes technically you can check the sensor before installing with a TPMS tool. all that will tell you is the correct protocol is loaded for your year, make and model. A couple more things; 1) $50 for a set you will be getting either fake, cheap knock off Chinese or refurbished TPMS for that price. That is below cost on a quality Schrader TPMS or even a cheaper Autel type brand. 2) with a earlier version of the JL (we had an 18 so we know) the TPMS also may not work if you go knock off. The signal is not strong enough to reach the receiver especially when going lifted and bigger tires (further away). It is basically a crap shoot. I recommend getting a set from Schrader (the OE manufacturer) and get either the OE part which is a 29093 or get their programmable 33500 for your Jeep. My $.02.

We do have Discount Tire store locations in your area. You can take them to your local store and they will test them for you. We also carry TPMS sensors in stock should you need a plan B.

If you have a mid '21 or earlier build date, you'll need the 'old style' sensors. Mid 21 and newer changed sensor type and they are not interchangeable.

I took the advice of getting the Schrader TMPS sensors. BTW Discount is normally my go-to for tires and have a local guy who is a Jeep supporter. This time, I just got a deal that I could not pass up.

The wheels/tires with TPMS sensors I bought from you are not syncing/registering. I did an 80 mile drive on Sunday and they never synced up. Do I need to pay to have them tested at my local Discount Tire shop?

I'm sorry the sensors did not work out of the box as expected. Thank you for letting us know.

Anyone of our stores will be happy to troubleshoot the sensors for you and will do so at no cost.

I've got the original TPMS for my April 2021 build JLR on my beadlocks and 38's. They work 97% of the time. They sometimes throw errors when I drop below 6 PSI. Inflating to 25 PSI doesn't help. Inflating to 27 PSI and driving eventually fixes the problem. The raceline beadlocks say never exceed 27 PSI so I don't like to do that and I immediately drop to 25 PSI once the TPMS system is working.

I've got 295/70R17's on JLR wheels on my TJR. When I got for a safety inspection or the dealer, I put the 33's on my JLR. I wanted TPMS for those rare trips, but I didn't want to pay top dollar. I bought these on Amazon for $33 and all of them work. I was hoping 3/4 would work. Last time I went for safety inspection for my JLR, I was too lazy to pull the 33's off the TJR, so I used the 31's. I have a set of 31's that came with the TJR, on JLR wheels. To my surprise, those had working TPMS. I need the set of 31's for my TJR's inspection. So I have 3 sets of wheels with TPMS that work on my JLR.

If a TPMS doesn't work, can't you just break the bead yourself, replace the TPMS, then reseat the bead? You can buy one sensor for $13.

Do you know what the cut off date was for the new sensors? If not, is there another way to tell? I have a mid year '21 Sahara and looking to put on take-off '23 Rubi Wheels/Tires.

Right about 6/7/21. Best way is to call the dealer, ask for part dept, give them your vin, ask them for your OE TPMS part #.
