According to the manual, the heated seats and steering wheel turn on when less than 40 degrees. It states they remain on until you start the car. Doesn’t say it turns off after 40. I have this, and they’re normally on when I get in. I’d have to double check that.

what I’d be more concerned about is as you said in a post is cabin temperature. I’d have to check the manual, but any other vehicle I’ve had the AC comes on and stays on too with remote start. If after 10 minutes your cabin is freezing, that might be a problem. AFAIK, the console setting is only for the seats and SW.
If it's below freezing out the cabin wont warm up on 10mins of idling time on remote start.

Get in and drive to warm up.

all relative to how much below freezing.... but the big question...is warmer air blowing from the vents after 10 minutes? Being I got my JLU last March and im in VA, I haven't had a lot of changes to check this.

Let's keep it simple. No matter if its 31° or -10° out...you ain't warming your cabin in 10mins idle.

Same with heated seat..the heating element is placed well below the surface of the cushion. Until you put the weight of your behind on the seat to bring the element closer, it wont get fully warm. Is why your behind gets warmer than the back rest(more weight).

Steering wheel gets warm(very hot if you ask me)because it's a tight wrap and much closer to the surface.

Only way to heat your cabin in such temps is either idle for 20-30mins or get in and drive.

Remote start is mainly for defrosting purposes.

Your cold weather group may also include a block heater. (Check your build sheet.) I am led to believe that all Canadian jeeps come so equipped, so perhaps northern US builds too. If you use a timer so that it comes on a couple of hours before start warm air will immediately come from your vents. This will also help in removing frost from the outside of the windshield.

For all you engine block heater folks...here is a little "hack" I came up with.

Ran the plug down to the driver side shock. Strapped an extension cord plug protector to it and housed the block heater plug in it.

Dont have to wrestle with the hood if its covered in snow and ice to get to the plug. Under the well it stays protected.

Pop the cover and plug in/unplug...simple. and looks pretty cool too.

:CWL: save yourself some embarrassment, dont bring your Jeep in for this...just sitting in the sun will skew your reading, there is no way around that.

There is also a big difference in actual temperature and "feels like" temperature.

...its really not that complex to understand what's happening.
I'd be far from embarrassed to bring my brand new vehicle in for even the smallest thing. My dad works in the service department at my dealer so I wont be shooed away.

It was cloudy all day here yesterday.

I stated actual temps here, not "feels like" temps

So what's happening?

Yes, I had this happen to me once or twice. I agree, it defeats the purpose of having a Cold Weather Group if the Jeep is too stupid to know it is cold outside.

Fortunately, I garage the Jeep, so it is not a recurring issue. But it’s happened when I was traveling and the Jeep spent the night outside.

I’ve owned many vehicles with outside temp readings and none of them were this off when the vehicle first started.

I don’t know what the dealer will do, though. All the HVAC sensors in these JLs seem to be absolute crap. Some times it is 40 degrees outside and the HVAC is blowing cold air into my face. Others it is 70 degrees and the thing is blowing hot air.

What's happening is your lack of understanding how the thing works.

Sell your Jeep and buy a Honda

Lol, if its 40 it's going to blow cold air unless fully warmed up.

If its 70, it's going to blow hot air.

You folks are funny

I think you may be misunderstanding the problem. If it’s 30 degrees outside and the temp reads 50, my seats nor my AC will turn on with the remote start. I don’t care about warming up the engine. I remote start so interior warms up. But since it’s in accurate the interior stays cold.
I'm now having the same problem. I've been in 20 degrees, parked all day outside, and get 57 degree readings. It's been parked in my garage out of the sun overnight in 30 degrees, and said 70 degrees. My remote start is basically worthless.

Did you find any solutions?

BTW, the guy who kept smartassing you (i've got him ignored) was braindead. I don't understand how he cannot understand this concept.

This is an FCA thing. All their vehicles do this. My Challenger does the same thing. The computer will stay active for a time after you've shut off the engine and left the vehicle. For whatever reason, the thermostat will continue to increment the temperature value either from excess heat from the engine bay or it sitting in the sun or whatever (or it might be none of these things and just some software bug). Eventually, the computer shuts off and holds that value until you start the vehicle again.

It's been a known issue for years and there doesn't appear to be any solution.

LOl.

Ah well, typical FCA (I had a Ram 1500 before this).

IT'S GOT THE REMOTE START COLD WEATHER PACKAGE! YOU'LL LOVE IT.
just make sure that you go outside and remote start it while looking through the driver's side window to see if the heat, seats, and heated wheel come on.

I should've gotten the fucking stickshift. The remotestart in South Dakota is why I settled for the automatic.

And in the summer mine reads 120 degrees before I start driving from my spot at work then it begins reading ”accurately“.
