So my Tazer on the TRX has been married and perfect since I installed it on July 7th 2023. I use almost all features.

Yesterday I was running errands and I stopped in a store for 5-10 minutes and my Tazer wasn't working at all when I started the truck back up. I thought it was weird but I guess I hoped it would sort itself out and besides having no Tazer functions, the truck worked as usual the rest of the day.

This morning I decided I would check it out. I tried to start the truck and it made a pop and all the screens were dead, as was the truck. I wanted to unmarry the Tazer but without a screen, I couldn't. I checked all fuses and everything else I could think of and everything looked fine. I then unplugged the Tazer and updated it and plugged it back in and nothing. I pulled out my jump box and the truck started right up. Volts read 13.1 and I drove it around a few miles. Several CELs were on and when I arrived back at the house, they all cleared with the Tazer. I will continue to test but now I kind of want to just disconnect it and be done. We spend way too much time way out in the Forest to have an unreliable truck.

Thoughts? I always assumed I would put one on the Jeep but not now.

How do you know it was related to the tazer?

I have nothing to add other than the anecdotal evidence of being 17,000 miles deep with my Tazer + JL and zero issues.

I don't "know" but considering the Tazer functions stopped working and then the truck went dead and the only thing that I actually changed was updating the Tazer and it started working...it kind of walked like a duck....

I had also had no access to the Tazer function on my screen yesterday when the issues started.

I am seeing a lot of issues on the TRX forum and I am the guy that has been saying they are doing something wrong, mine works perfectly.

I have Tazers in both my Jeeps and they’ve been flawless.
I’ll add that their customer service is excellent. If you have any questions about what you experienced, I’d reach out to them and see what they say.

Like others, I’ve been using the tazer almost since it came out…..zero issues with it…. I don’t know what’s going on with your truck, but I would be surprised if the tazer was the actual cause of the issue…. But, my experience is solely Jeep related….. Hope you get it sorted out……

@ParadigmDawg

I'm pretty familiar with the Tazer JL... :giggle:

More often then not when someone has an issue and come here and blame it on the Tazer JL they have installed, the end result is the issue was not Tazer JL related.

For you, do go to your power distribution center (PDC) and be sure Fuse 05 is firmly pressed down.

F05 is the fuse protection for the JL/JT's security gateway. IF, F05 is not firmly in place, is removed or is blown, the security gateway will not be operative and the Tazer JL will go non-responsive.

Could just be your F05 is a tad loose, problematic, etc... or you could have 12v issues with your JL (Battery(s) related)

Not even on his Jeep though. He's referring to an incident with his Tazer equipped TRX Ram truck.

Regardless of the vehicle with the Tazer JL installed on it... Issue could be just as I mentioned... OP, should research what fuse in the PDC/on his vehicle, protects the security gateway... check 12v status, etc..

Yes, I will reach out to them when I get a chance. I love all the functions I was using with the Tazer.

TRXs are known to ship with almost every single relay and fuse not fully seated. I made sure mine were when I purchased it and that is the first thing I checked this morning.

If my SGW was the issue, it wouldn't have started back up. As I stated, the only change I made this morning to get it to start was to update the Tazer and jumped it. Afre that all my pre-stored functions were back on and the truck runs, starts easily and is showing no issues. Battery seems fine but I will test it in a bit.

What you posted suggests... is indicative of ..... that indeed the security gateway lost 12v power /temporarily lost power for some reason and thus the Tazer JL was no longer able to work.

Again, if the Tazer JL suddenly stops working/is non responsive, it's related to loss of 12v at the security gateway.

Should mention.... a Tazer JL losing power at the security gateway will not cause the vehicle to not start.. or such.

IF this issue happens again, unmarry and uninstall the Tazer JL and run for a couple of weeks without the Tazer JL in the picture.

Yep, the inability to start is what is weird.

SWG on the TRX is F32, not that it matters, I just don't want you thinking that I didn't do my homework.;)

Thanks for all the help.
