I didn’t know what kind of weight sensor it used, but it didn’t take much more than a gallon of milk, two gallons did set it off.To answer this whole thread and your little (amusing) quip:
The airbag system needs to know how heavy the person sitting in the front seat is, because the airbags can deploy to different sizes/strengths depending on how large the person in the seat is.
There's two reasons for that. The first reason is the wide range of sizes in the US. The second reason is because in the US, there is a law that airbags must inflate to (attempt) to keep someone who isn't wearing a seatbelt from flying out of their seat.
TBH: The comment I am writing, I cannot find a good source to back up the "airbags in the US are stronger because the US requires airbags to account for people not wearing seatbelts" bit.....
However, there's this about multi-stage airbags and weight:

For my own amusement, I would be fine if Jeep sold a Wrangler with no airbags and no safety features whatsoever. That model should come with those seat frames from the original CJ hahaha.
No ! Heck, I cut the back frames off my 63 and Mustang buckets were the perfect size to bolt on the seat frame- much better ? my only disagreement , ?
