Hello all.

I picked up some Rigid 3" cube spot lights at the jeep invasion on Thursday. Have DV8 brackets coming. There are no instructions with them ( longer story) I mean install is easy I can do that. But as far as where you come through the firewall with the wires and through the top there's nothing. Probably look for a video.

I have a question though. They came with a supplied switch and I don't have any kind of a controller yet. Question is where have any of you mounted this switch? For anybody out there that used it. I can make a bracket but was curious what others may have done.

Thanks

If your JL is an automatic, there's a plastic plug on the firewall below the brake booster. You can pop that out and drill a hole in it to feed the wiring through then snap it back in.

As for the switch, I'm not sure if you have power windows, but I don't. I mounted my switch on the top of the cubby where the window switches would be.

I thought about mounting it on the trim panel under the steering wheel or a few other locations, but there's a lot of stuff going on behind the dash. Definitely look behind and make sure there's enough space to route the wires and switch before drilling. Good luck!

I just mounted the same setup in my daughter's JLW. Ran the wires through the grommet near the brake master cylinder since she has an automatic. Mounted the switch in the easy-to-remove panel under the steering wheel. Easy enough to do with a drill and Dremel or die grinder to get it to the final size for the switch. I believe it was about .735".

I take it you don't have the factory trailer hitch?

There is a hole on either side through the firewall of the automatoces. Just punch through there. If you don't have the aux switches, there are a lot to spots to put that switch BUT if this isn't the last thing you're intending on hooking up, I suggest you get one of the various switch pods and run the wiring for that once. There are some slick ones that put switches on the grab handle for instance.

Thanks all.

I do not have the tow package or power windows.

Placing it in the cubby was a place I had not thought of. Although with the wife she might stick something in there, turn the lights on and I will be running down the road in the daytime with the lights on. So I will have to think about that placement.

I may also shop for a switch bracket.

Thanks.
