I haven’t pulled the trigger on these yet but I’m conflicted on the configuration.
I photoshopped these really quick and each has a personal pro and con.

Id love to hear your opinions on which configuration you’d go with and why.

Thanks so much!

Forgot to mention, the smaller lights are intended mostly for road driving on dark back country highways to illuminate the shoulder and side of road better to spot animals.

The larger lights are to be spot/beam combo for trails at night.

Based on what I’ve come across and my experience in regards to the bumper location, I think C would be best to widen the pattern and then angle them outwards a little for an even wider pattern and seeing where you are turning, animals. Iirc, fogs are supposed to be mounted low to reduce the light reflecting back toward the driver and it will cut through fog better.

My second preference would be B. Still angled outward a little but the smaller lights mounted under the hoop to better protect the lights.

You didn't have a choice for D, none of the above. I am not a fan of lights mounted on the A-pillar cowling. They throw too much light on the hood. I have a set of lights on my bumper and another set on the A-pillar on my 4-door Jeep, and I almost never use the lights on the A-pillar because of the light they throw on the hood, which is annoying. And I even have the block out plate installed on the inside of those lights to prevent the side-lighting on that side of the lights.

On my 2-door Jeep I mounted all 4 lights on the bumper. Function is much better, and I am able to use all 4 lights without the annoyance of light on the hood. The set-up on my 2-door does a better job of turning night into day.

In your case I would recommend option D, which would be to have the small rectangular lights at the ends of the bumper, and the round lights on the brush bar in the middle of the bumper. Lights on the cowling may look better than having everything on the bumper, but they do not work as well. If you want side lighting, I would look at the Oracle Offroad Side Mirrors, or a similar product.

Good luck.

is there a None of the Above option?

i would not put lights up where i'd have to see the glare they'll create on the hood.

I only have small pod lights angled out at a 45 and down for switch backs and shelf roads

i did something similar, but since these are such a broad beam pattern i don't have them pointed down very much. works out well as i might be tipped over a bit while trying to use them and this way they cover 'up' enough too.

I agree with not wanting to deal with hood glare. Thats why besides aesthetics, I was hoping for everyone’s insight on functional use.

The lights if mounted near the pillar would be facing out. How bad would that glare be?

Interesting. I like that mounting bracket that places them off the side of the Jeep instead of over the edge of the hood. Who makes it?

i don't know how to answer "how bad" for someone else. but with the lights mounted off to the side below the hood line you don't have any glare. considering that the point of Aux lights (for me) is to see better, no superfluous glare interference is what i want.

another point i don't see mentioned is that putting lights up in front of the A-pillar will likely eliminate your J**ps ability to drop the windshield, and possibly interfere with it's ability to lay the hood all the way back.

Ah yes, the classic interpret-a-poll-as-an-open-mic-night approach.
Nice.
It's a forum.
My comment is still nicer than those lights ...take a hint and return them to the construction site.

Yup, D is the answer. Keep lights below the hood line. Above that and not only do you get glare from the hood, but also blinded by fog, dust, snow, rain, etc. that is in your direct field of view in front of the windshield.
