we have done 3 LS motors from Bruiser Conversions on the JK's and they run great. Haven't done the JL conversion yet but hopefully soon!

I'm getting the bug again..... This porky pig 5,000lb with 3.6L is not good enough. FCA really needs to build a 4.7-5.3L push rod motor for the JL and Galdiator. The JT will be the big swap fast. No way is the 3.6L going to tow 7,600 lb plus itself at attitude. FCA really has a neat idea with the JT, but the 3.6 will kill it fast.

They do have a plan. It is the diesel. It will have no trouble towing that kind of load at altitude or anywhere else.

I don't think so.
I have a 02 powerstroke 525 or 550 tq.
Truck and trailer = 11,500lbs = turd climbing mountain passes.
JT and trailer = up to 12,600 with only 440-450 tq = good luck.

Apples to oranges. There is no value at all to comparing that with a light SUV with the Ecodiesel.

Torque moves weight, Horsepower how fast it moves it.
You will see every diesel owner chipping as soon as they can. My point is still not enough from the factory on these SUV's. You can buy 707hp Grand Cherokee, but you can't buy 350hp Wrangler/Wrangler Truck. Makes no sense.

Why, in the actual hell, would you want a 707hp wrangler.

Did not say I want 707 hellcat. Said a 4.7-5.3L pushrod gas motor. something with more hp / torque, then a n/a 3.6L. My 5.7 Hemi TJ is fine. It's just too big in size for the bay on JL / JT. A simple 350hp/400tq gas V-8 or large V-6. Or V-6 supercharged. I'm not a fan of diesel. It has a place, just not in a Wrangler for me.

I've got a 5.3 LS with a cam Gen 4 LC9 motor without the DOD.
Lot of work yes but well worth the trouble.

New kits that John @ Overland Performance has available are going to make for a much similar install and his support is the best!

John and Motec now have a Calif legal 5.3 swap kit.

I won’t pick which is better, but will make a comment on the swap. I’ve got a JK that I swapped in the 5.7 Heim when it was new. I’ve driven it over 100,000 miles and have had only a couple of issues with it. I did it because I wanted the additional power and I got it. It was done by a custom shop and they took care of it while it was under warranty. It now has an a/c problem and the local service technicians are at a loss in tracking down the problem. The custom shop is over 500 miles away so taking it there is not a viable option. Bottom line...it’s going to be a hassle to get it fixed because of the swap.
That being said...I also have a new JL with the 3.6. That engine matched with the 8 speed auto runs as good as the 5.7 JK. No way would I swap for either the LS or the Hemi. I can get service anywhere I go and I love driving the JL.
This is some pretty good info. I am toying with the thought of a conversion but I have to say the 3.6 has been a hoot. Still more power is always fun.

This is a JL forum and sadly there is no carb legal swap kits out yet.
