Swapped to 8.4 out code in while engine off and code not working

I swapped out my 7 to 8.4 and I entered the security code and keep getting locked out (with the correct code). Using my jscan and getting an error that it cannot see/communicate with radio. What do I do?

And what do people do with the extra black wire/cable from the 7 when switching to the 8.4?
