Yeah, when they're talking about .75 to 1 inch of ice, that's serious... like fill the bathtubs with water and top off the generators serious. Trees and power lines themselves won't take that kind of weight. Hopefully folks have stocked up by now and are ready to wait it out.

For the heavy snow, the good news is that just driving around the neighborhood can be an adventure if you get out before the snow plows do. And if you do get stuck at least you're not alone in the wilderness. It's a chance for every mall crawler to finally earn some cred wheeling in an empty Target parking lot... :)

I just missed that storm last month when driving through IL. Gas was still $3 /gal so I waited until Wisconsin to fill up for $2.38. Sioux City Iowa was $2.08 and Colorado Springs was $1.79 at our local Costco when I got home.
I'm running the 2.0t with a tune, so I was filling up with 91/93. Most of the gas stations along my route were still in the $4 range for Premium.

Yep. That's the only time my gf's Jeeps ever get put in 4WD is when I convince her to let me take em out on the empty city streets. Lol

Relax bro. I just wanna go live a little ok. 2 things you can rest assure; when I go out I know of a few places I guarantee I'll be the only person on the back road. 2nd, I'll die before I call a first responder. I won't even take my cell phone. If you don't ever hear from ol flip again it was nice knowing you.

Witness me 🫵
You're right bro, idiot was too strong of a term. Take pics.

I appreciate that my friend. I'll try to get a few pics tonight. I don't know how much snow we will get between 11 pm & 1 am but that's when I plan on going out. If the storm doesn't cooperate, then I will wait until Sunday evening between 11 pm - 1 am.

I've been thinking about it and have done it before (took my XJ through the '93 blizzard when I was dumb and young and just had to drive to the nearest town for smokes), but to be honest, I'd be more concerned avoiding the other yahoos that are out driving through this shit. Do understand that not everyone has the luxury of being able to stay home from work, but someone driving their Camry through several feet of unplowed has their work cut out for them.

Barring any unforeseen emergency, I'm planning on staying off the roads til they can get them cleared up a bit. Hope you have a lot of fun, stay warm and be safe! 👍

I was hoping to do the same. Where are you planning on heading out?

I just discovered a crack in one of my toilets. :( Thankfully I have another, so I can just turn the water off to the bad one and wait until Monday.

So annoying, since Home Depot is about an hour drive away and I could easily switch it out myself IF THE WEATHER WAS COOPERATING. But no, -2 to -20 tomorrow and heavy snow Sunday and Monday. Grr. Now I'm going to have to pay a local plumber and hope that he has the same one to replace it with.
Home Depot has free delivery

I have several back roads near me. One in particular is a backroad/jeep trail that leads to the parkway. The parkway will be closed which is fine. I just turn around and double back. In my younger days, I would park and hike to the nearest overlook. Talk about a beautiful winter wonderland 😍

You must be further west than I am. Best I can hope for here in suburbia hell is an empty parking lot.

None... but it pays well.
Yet to see it. Once it does snow. I'll be trecking through the mountains. May lay a 1/4" by sun down. May get another same time tomorrow. So much for snow day Monday.

That works too. I want to venture out just far enough to solo and make the first set of tracks.
