Makes since but I hate the safari mode look.

Personally I think the solution is to have the bikini solid top come down the roll bar posts one or two inches then have a zip in rear window. That's what I want.

They should have made the back of the hard top 3 pieces.

My wife and I installed it for the first time on Saturday. Took around 15 minutes. Once it's on you can put your hard or soft top on over it. There are foam pads that are attached to the top that go under the straps and buckles so they dont touch the paint. If you can zoom in on my picture from the side of the jeep you can see the pad under the strap & buckle.

Everyone has different taste/likes which is a good thing. Not trying to stir up anything but I'm curious why you would go to safari mode with the doors on? The passenger area is still enclosed. Doesn't look like you would get the open air feel.

A lot of new options have hit the market for Summer 2020 so hoping to fire this thread back up.

I'm not looking for a sunshade, I want a full cover for the unexpected rain storm and the new(ish) Smittybilt top seems like the best and most flexible with closed, open, and sun shade options. Not to mention the best price.

One summer with my YJ, I saw an impressively fat women wearing a tube top at Lake of the Ozarks. I did not get a photo though since digital photos were not a thing yet.
Maybe that's not what you mean with summer tops though.

Yes - there are several things you'll need. Here is a visual breakdown on parts for both 4 and 2 door JLs that I posted sometime ago over in this thread.

As for availability, our manufacturing got shut down recently due to COVID, so we're trying to get a handle on when these will be shipping from our warehouse. We may not know for another couple of weeks, as this situation is still so fluid.
